Check in - silly question!

I'm just wondering - if you download an e-ticket to a mobile phone (something like OneNote), will that be accepted at check in for a cruise?

I've always printed out the e-tickets since they started, but just wondered if that's ok. Last time we checked in, I had put the e-tickets somewhere safe, and whilst I looked for them I just recited the booking reference to the checkin person, and we carried out regardless.

Has anyone used a downloaded version on a phone?

We haven't ever needed the ticket, just the passports have always been enough. And a credit card of course

We've always arrived at the checkin with tickets (whether e-tickets or old version), and just handed those in, together with health questionnaire and plastic card. We can both remember being asked for them; now I'm just wondering if I can get away with not having them with us!

See, I said (in the title) it was a silly question! Well, I'm busy (like watching paint dry) waiting for this thing to download on my laptop so that I can hopefully get the e-ticket to be available on my mobile.

What's the betting it doesn't work? Then again - do any UK terminals have half decent wifi?

We have not needed tickets or e-tickets for about 10 years, so don't bother unless flying, when the airline sometimes wants to see evidence of an onward journey.

Maybe I'm just a bit old-fashioned, but personally I would never dream of trying to checkin without a ticket of some form. Similarly, I always take proof of travel insurance with me.

It's always on my iPad should they ask - but they never have. I agree about taking the insurance booklet, though we've had it so many years it's a bit fragile now.

I suppose if push came to shove we've always got stuff accessible on a laptop - but I can't be bothered to get that out until after dinner usually onboard.

Oh well, it was just a daft question - looking at 'new' stuff to do on my mobile phone; and I'm not sure that this is an avenue I'm going to travel along.

So, I'll stick to printing out.

P&O have clearly stated that they do not NEED the e-ticket for check-in purposes but it does help speed up the process - what other cruise lines' policy is I cannot say.

It would not be the first time that I have checked in at an airport with only my passport.

I must say though that I do like the mobile app from TheTrainLine that lets you buy tickets which are loaded directly onto your phone.

We have always printed out the tickets, and always have them with us, but when sailing from Southampton have never been asked for them . So I would think if you have them on your phone that will be fine.

Yes, flying is a piece of cake nowadays with checkin etc., but I was a bit worried some years ago when a ticket had our name incorrectly spelled on them, and to make matters worse the blasted visa inside a passport also had a name incorrectly spelled.

I must admit, for cruise checkin sometimes we've been asked for the e-tickets and other times I just hand over the e-tickets and passports whilst we fill out the health forms.

You're lucky Meg, we've never had long to wait, and I (being a daft old fusspot) like a firm flat surface to write on; and the only way to achieve that is to do it whilst the checkin person is busy on the computer etc (or waiting for the cards to be obtained from the 'rack'.

We must look like suspicious dodgy characters my wife and I, because we've always been asked for our e.tickets when we've checked in at embarkation at Southampton !!! Luckily I've always had them printed off and ready to hand in so don't know what would have happened if I hadn't had them.
