I've been on other websites, about Meniere's Disease

Incidentally, I saw the consultant again Monday, and got the results of some tests that I had, for my balance function, and they all came back in the normal range, which probably explains why I'm not having vertigo at the moment.

But he still is of the opinion that I have Meniere's.

But as it's mild at present, we've agreed for the time being I can deal with it by way of diet (low sodium, so no more bacon sandwiches for me) and stress reducing...... so I'm retiring on 18th December!

I am in Sheffield on holiday and struggling with my IPad. It is a real struggle with my eyesight - the laptop at home is so much easier. Visited Buxton and yesterday we went to Media City at Salford. Good value with a wayfarer concession ticket for the trip from Hathersage to Manchester at £6 return. The thing that shocked me was 30p to have a pee at Manchester Piccadilly station - what a rip off. Do all train stations charge that much?

Sometimes there are more posts you can join in with than others. As the Caribbean season comes along I'll not be much use as I have never been there and as a bit of a lobster when it comes to very hot sunshine I doubt we will ever go. Besides I don't fancy the hassle of flying and don't fancy loads of sea days either so unless they move the Caribbean closer I think it's out for us.

However I feel sure there will be plenty of us for a bit of banter and, of course, the footy. We might even get Shiney involved!!!

And Shiney is right (as ever). The site is poorer without RB's contributions.

Each to his own - we love the sea days. As you know, we're hoping to do a worldy when we retire, and the heat of the Caribbean is something I'm not looking forward to (and other areas of that latitude...)

You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time...... You're too kind, sir.

I think it must just be certain stations Maureen, from memory I think they charge 20p at Leeds station whilst at York it is free.

I am still here and have been posting on the Games Section, but although I read most of the General Chat topics I only post a reply to anything I feel compelled to do so. But don't visit at the weekend much.

Best to let Rentokil have a quick look at it before you pass it on, just to avoid potential legal problems in the future...

I wouldn't advise using the loo on the train if it's anything like the experience I had on Monday returning from Manchester Piccadilly to Cardiff. I didn't actually use the facilities but everyone who came out commented on how disgusting it was and in fact while waiting to get off the train I had to cover my nose as I was standing right next to the loo. I felt so strongly about it that I have complained to Arriva Trains about the loo and the absolutely ice cold air conditioning - we all had our coats on - most uncomfortable.

I was going to say that the OP, having read how the latest comments degenerate this thread, must regret starting it, but then I saw it was our wonderful Stephen who kicked it off.....

I'm here now. We have been to the Isle of Wight for 4 days. It was lovely, Seaview, Cowes, Yarmouth, Freshwater. Lovely lunch in the Arts Centre at Newport last Tuesday, sat outside by the river Medina, eating Sea Bass and Chips, and Chocolate Brownie and Ice cream.

In Seaview a lady was telling me she had just come back from Sheffield; I said "You aren't Maureen, are you?" (Kenmoi). No she said "Who is Maureen?" Well it was worth a try.

In Freshwater we witnessed something rather humbling. We spotted a swimmer setting off from the steps in front of the Albion. Swimming strongly they headed out to sea, then across the bay in the direction of Chale etc. I began to become concerned, because there are tidal rips out there, but after becoming virtually out of sight, we saw through binoculars that they had turned and still swimming strongly heaed back We strolled over in the direction of the Albion, and imagine our surprise when a middle aged woman came out of the sea. Poor lady had a very malformed right leg and almost wizened, and she began to drag herself up the steps one at a time.. Surprise turned to total admiraion for her courage, and we went on our way marvelling at how some people demonstrate their ability to overcome adversity.

In Yarmouth I got to speak to the skipper of a fishing boat which I had made the subject of a painting 15 years ago; a really nice man. All in all a great short break.

I'm here too but been very busy same as many on here. We looked at a cruise in November but decided we needed to
do something else. Up to now we have been to Manchester and Harrogate. We have a visit to Lytham next week, The Grand Hotel,
anyone been?

We have a week in Ambleside so loads of walking, back to Manchester and then off to Morecambe - interested in anyone's views about
Morecambe, booked in The Midland Hotel, looks a lovely art deco hotel.

Although I am away, I do check in and see whats happnening, just read Suekersh's Adonia report, what a cracker.

And the highlight of October is meeting up with Mr and Mrs Old Blue Fox :D - looking forward to it :D
