Camera with wifi?

Unread post by Boris+ »

We always take our laptop onboard - for various reasons, and that is not going to change. We always take our phones with us too - and that won't change (but it will be useful if we need to create a hotspot I suppose).

However - I am right on the verge of replacing my existing bridge camera with a different make one - which has wifi connectivity. I fancied getting one now and doing a short course, ready for our main outing of 2015.

Anyone had any experience of these?

Hi Stephen,

At a pinch I would use my phone, but whilst trying to cope with changes in my life over the past couple of years photography has slowly but surely crept in to my interests.

Add in a gorgeous granddaughter to the mix - and a new camera is a must! I'm also looking at a change of make of camera - and I think I'm going to do it, just to make the most of our cruises.

Yes the Sony Cybershot DSC HX 50 has wifi.It is a super camera too! Long zoom and it is only a compact size. I think there are newer models now I've had it about a year. Really pleased better photos than previous bridge camera.

Although I do not have one, I have only heard good reports on the Canon 6D. However, it comes with a hefty price tag.

Have a look on Amazon Em. Not only will you hopefully find what you are looking for at a good price but also get reviews from owners which is always helpful when deciding.

Being a numpty and a woos - (does that make me a wumpty?) last year I wanted to do a dolphin excursion, and wouldn't take my beloved bridge camera with me on the little boat for the excursion, so I got a small Sony which was 'waterproof' - and got some smashing shots. The zoom was so smooth, and the video was really good to use - and the zoom for that was super smooth too.

This time I fancy going for a Nikon - I can't see the reason for the price which Canon ask; and a close family member has several Canons, and now is looking at changing to Nikon. Hubby has a Nikon, so I may as well bite the bullet and go for it.

Time for a coffee.

You can get wi-fi enabled memory cards that will fit some cameras which may be another avenue to explore

Hi David,

Thanks for the advice/info - it's a long story, but last weekend we had the christening, and thank goodness we had some guests who are really into photography, and their cameras would do things mine just couldn't (some photos on the image gallery). So, I am starting a couple of short camera courses and changing my camera.

Next step will be to persuade himself that we really should redo all the itineraries we have done so far, just to re-take all those photos!!!!

Probably going to get a Nikon.

I'm looking forward to a special treat before the end of the year, and a new camera would be great in time for that - so I'd better hurry up and get it (tomorrow!!).
