Four cakes made....ten to go...
My aim is to get them all done this weekend, fed and wrapped.
Grandchildren's pressies...getting there. Loving buying girly things this year for Ruby
National Trust renewal sorted for our kids.
Week away end of November...then trees up on 29th and 30th !!!!
I am not making a cake for us this year, we seldom eat it, though I will make one for my sister as usual. I hope to do that and the chocolate logs this coming week. Puddings the following week, before we go on Riviera.
The artificial trees will go up and the house start to be dressed on December 1st. We do need a nice big fresh tree for the conservatory, but I'll leave that until mid December.
No Rush....just lots to do and I like to have it all done before my trees go up..so I can enjoy all of December with the house decorated, carols playing, Christmas books and DVDs out..building up memories for all my little toerags to enjoy.
I've started getting unbreakable ornaments for the tree this year - which will get done as per normal on 01 December. I do also intend to have one or two new festive ornaments indoors too.
The gift purchasing (but not wrapping yet) has started, but foodwise it's going to be a different time for us - mainly my fault, but we can still have a great time.
Going on a photo course to try and get the best out of any festive photography, but I just can't wait to wrap up those very first festive gifts for our granddaughter.
I feel more in the festive mood this year than I have for a long time!

Em
Pity you didn't live up north as my son has his own photography business....and runs workshops.
You might have gotten a discount....
Well, I've started - a few presents ordered, mostly for grandchildren as dictated by my daughter - much easier to get something I know they'll like. Our Christmas will be a little different this year in that we're going to my elder daughter's on Christmas Day - have to walk all the way next door! However, I am cooking the Roast Potatoes, and then cooking and freezing before hand, gravy, cranberry sauce and bread sauce. Talking of gravy I made Jamie Oliver's make-ahead Turkey Gravy last year and it was very good. I have also offered to buy the turkey so that's ordered.
We are then off to my other daughter's on Boxing Day - we have a 7ft artifical tree which we bought when we had a Christmas in Dorset - so seeing as we always have a real tree at home I have shipped the tree off to Farnham - it was a bit of a squeeze getting it into the back of her car, even though it does come in three pieces, the tree I mean! Never having had an artifical tree before when I did use it I was amazed how long it took to get all the branches pulled out and into the best shape - well it was 7ft. So we hadn't folded it down completely so it will save her some time when she eventually puts it up.
I must admit I'm looking forward to not having to cook the whole Christmas lunch/dinner thing - it will be good to have a break. We have booked seats to take our Grandaughter to see Sleeping Beauty which is on at Winchester Theatre Royal, and I am really looking forward to that.
I suppose seeing as it's nearly November, once Hallowe'en is over (can't be doing with that) then the shops really will be into full Christmas mode. I love Christmas, always have done and I'll certainly enjoy being with my two Grandchilren and seeing their excitement.
Can't start thinking about Christmas until November 5 is over ( daughter's birthday - she's over 40 I know but still eligible for a family 'do'), and most definitely Halloween in our house ( my birthday and my Ma's birthday - and she's well over 90, so demands a party) . So........ Christmas must wait - oh, and there's a cruise VERY close now!
Last year we had a Halloween party and I didn't start till those decorations were down...but no party this year as we are decorating.
My OH has instructions for it all to be done by mid November
We are on Oriana for Xmas so our family Xmas day is Saturday 29 Nov at our eldest sons house in Rochdale.
My youngest son is travelling up from Devon and spending 4 days with us in Preston, my Dad and sister are flying back from Spain on 28nov and staying with my brother the night before the partyho lives in Chorley. My niece is travelling from Uni at Nottingham, my sisters partner, his daughter and my sisters Grandson are all travelling across the M62 from Lincolnshire.
Hopefully we will all arrive in Rochdale at approx 1pm and have a fabulous time. Plenty of time to get over it before we travel to Southampton on Dec 17 th.
We have bought presents for our Grandaughters to open at the party and some we send to Father Christmas to be opened on the 25th. It is also our youngest Grandaughters birthday on 29 December so we have bought that as well to leave with our son & Dil.
I now need to get them all wrapped up and hidden before the girls visit next Thursday.
Thank goodness we will be relaxing on the cruise in the sun being waited on for Christmas.
Our family are going on the Azura at Christmas this year, and we dont have anyone else, so we are on our own. We have booked a nice restaurant for Christmas day, and plan to just enjoy each others company. I do enjoy Christmas though, because the carols have fabulous bass parts. I shall probably go to a Christingle, and a 12 lessons and carols service.
