Well I had delivery of my champagne and prosecco yesterday on special at Sainsbury's.
Been today to get my Christmassy napkins, paper plates and tablecloths ect.
I use them for three days before Christmas..and up until day after New Year's Day. ( not on Christmas Day cos I use "proper" tablecloth and napkins then)
And I got a new Christmas jumper today, and new daft Christmas earrings to match
My list is shrinking nicely.

Gill, I think that's a lovely idea. But talking of bubbles and weddings - don't forget to get some super foot soak too!

Our champagne and cava was purchased yesterday. Some for our pre Xmas family party and done to take on board Oriana with us. Most presents now purchased. I need to order some M & S Xmas fare for the party but still have 4 weeks so well in front.

Just back from the garden centre where they have a fabulous Christmas Shop - with both trimmings and many, many nice gifts. I mus confess my CC took a bit of a bashing but I bought some nice things for both us and others. Roll on December 1st!

I saw Santa with a big sack today. A little early but perhaps a gentle reminder that it is only 7 weeks to the last weekend for shopping.

I'm really struggling to find the non-breakable items I want for the tree; but then granddaughter won't notice all that much this year, and I can always get what I really want during 2015.

My eldest grandson, is seven next week...and still believes in Santa..but only just...
He told me that he knows elves don't make all the presents...
Everyone orders them from Argos..and Santa collects them and delivers them all on Christmas Eve....

Re: Christmas Countdown
C is 9 at the end of December and still believes in Santa. Her friends are the same and so far there hasn't been any whispering about ' is there or isn't there '.
She has grown up to believe that all the Santa's you see at parties and in the shops are getting ideas for shopping lists. Everyone who buys a present gets it delivered to Lapland where the elves wrap them all up.
Last year Santa ate his mince pie but he also ate a packet of crisps cos he left the empty packet by the plate. .
Like millions of others she is already excited and it is such a shame when that bubble bursts.

When the bubble of belief does burst - just how do you break it to them? Is it better to come from family or just other kids in the area?

Em,
I hope it will be a natural realisation over the next year. I think you have to be honest if they ask but I think it would be rather harsh to sit and tell the truth.
When the time comes I think C will take on a new role as Christmas organiser for J who will be 2 next year.

Where art thou, Mother Christmas?
I really wish I knew
Why Father should get all the praise
And no one mentions you.
I’ll bet you buy all the presents
And wrap them large and small
While all the time the dirty swine
Pretends he’s done it all.
So hail to Mother Christmas
The uncomplaining slave
And down with Father Christmas
That good - for - nothing knave.

We have our grandson here now and gave been discussing stuff like this with him...
He believes in Santa, the tooth fairy, the Gruffalo ....but now doesn't believe the Angel of the North comes alive at night...and now knows the "cloud machine" that sticks out of a big building close to where we live..is a big chimney that pipes out steam clouds.
But he promises he won't tell his younger cousins...lol

Bye 'eck Sue,
Do I detect a hint of sarcasm?
Christmas decorations I have seen commercially available in the past weren't what I wanted then, but now I want something a bit different and not quite so 'grown up'.
Maybe I'll just look for some ideas and get a bit arty/crafty - granddaughter is too young to benefit from the experience of planning/designing/production, but we'll wait and see a little while yet.
Meanwhile I've got some Norwegian design patterns to use to embroider various bits and pieces for the home (table runners, napkins and chair backs etc).
What I really fancied was something along the lines of the German Nutcracker type theme for the tree itself - but I don't want to intrude into himself's shed/workshop.
I wish I'd thought about that earlier in the year!

Sue
The wonder of seeing things through the eyes of little ones.
Never though about the cloud machine. C knows her Daddy goes to Hull everyday to pick up coal to deliver to power stations where they make the clouds. Oops.
Em
When little ones start school they come home so proud of the wonderful' Christmas decorations, paper chains and lanterns, they have made, all works of art.
Home made or bought ones will not mean the same to them.
