I am fed up with my in-box being clogged up with Black Friday e-mails. If only one of these stores had a pair of silver sandals I could actually wear, raher than the 6" ankle breakers, then I might atually be tempted!

Having seen some of the television coverage this morning of Tesco and Asda stores, I quite agree that the whole spirit of Christmas is sadly missing. It seemed to be every man for himself/herself. People were pushed on the floor and the mob behind just rampaged over them. I think the media has to take some of the blame for hyping up this stupid import from America - it totally brings out the worst in people.

I feel sorry for the shop assistants - it can't be much fun for them.

Try LK Bennett Gill, I got some lovely ones from there in the summer that only have a 3" heel , if anything I would have liked a higher heel but I liked them so much I decided for once I would buy something sensible

It's all brought in old stock they couldn't sell from yester year anyway, not the good stuff.

I did try and have a look on the Curry's web site out of curiosity, only to be informed there was a 21 minute wait before I would be allowed on the site
Considering that the majority of sales are done online these days you would think companies would get their systems in order to cope.

Cannot really say that I am bothered one way or the other. If there was an expensive item that I was interested in buying then I would probably have a look at what was on offer.

Just been to Tesco for our weekly shop and there was a load of TVs in the entrance which were at a reasonable price - the only problem was that they were from a manufacturer (or at least packaged from a manufacturer) that I had never heard of, so was it a bargain or not?

If your after a 50 inch TV for £75 then yes. But it will probably only have two weeks warranty, pack up just after Christmas and the manufacture and spare parts doesn't exist anymore.

At least it isn't a black Friday here now, the sun has finally broken through that miserable grey cloud which we have had for the last few days. Perhaps I will go out this afternoon and see if there are any bargains left - well, no perhaps not. I'll just join the massive queues in the post office and get the stamps for my Christmas cards instead. There won't be any spare money for bargains after that.

just a retail ploy to get the gullible to buy all the stock they can't shift at the over inflated prices
rather than getting involved, it should be boycotted ,as it clearly shows how much people are being ripped off , the rest of the year
and how much mark up stores put on things
no store can discount something 50% unless they are making 75% profit in the first place, as they never run anything at a loss, no matter how cheap you may think it is

The gullible and their money are easily parted.

It's the same with supermarkets. You go along to the wine section with prices out of this world, a few weeks later their doing deals. As you said. they're all at it, ripping the customer off initially to make you think you're getting a bargain later.

Well, having said I wasn't going to be swept up by this;

Two days ago I ordered a dress from John Lewis, which is due to be delivered tomorrow. Today I looked on-line and find it has been reduced by £96 for Black Friday, so a quick telephone call found me with a £96 refund!

I then found some Kurt Geiger silver shoes - the right heel height and colour - and they had 50% off, but not only that, when I got to the check-out, there was a further 20% off for Black Friday!

I have saved £156 today, on things I was buying anyway, just by being a little bit savvy!
