My most recent purchase, from Amazon, was for 4 x De-Lux Mouse Traps and they worked a treat, oh yes, given that we have caught three of the little buggers in as many days.



The point is, could I have saved myself 50% of £7-50 had I been fully aware of this event ?

You could have saved yourself even more Moby. You could have borrowed our two killers...........mates rates of course

Well, having said I wasn't going to be swept up by this;

Two days ago I ordered a dress from John Lewis, which is due to be delivered tomorrow. Today I looked on-line and find it has been reduced by £96 for Black Friday, so a quick telephone call found me with a £96 refund!

I then found some Kurt Geiger silver shoes - the right heel height and colour - and they had 50% off, but not only that, when I got to the check-out, there was a further 20% off for Black Friday!

I have saved £156 today, on things I was buying anyway, just by being a little bit savvy!

Nice one Gill. You played it right, you only brought what you were going to buy anyway.

Funny how they don't discount the expensive stuff though. I see JL are still pricing the Nikon D7100 I like at full price. Now, if they'd like to knock 50% off.... my credit card would be out like grease lightening........fat chance

There's deffo a positive side to this Black Friday malarkey cos Mobietta reminded me that we were on the lookout for a replacement M&S suite for the lounge .... well blow me down we've just saved ourselves £1,120 !!!

They certainly are lethal but mousey gets a bit of Marathon Bar and only then is he/she painlessly-ish executed ... sad of course but much more humane than poisoning them I think.

After Black Friday, it's Cyber Monday on Monday, the biggest day for online gift ordering.

But if you are fed up with all this rampant commercialism, it's Giving Tuesday on the 2nd December a global day of giving to charity, whether it's money, time or just promoting the work of your favourite charity.

I am fed up with my in-box being clogged up with Black Friday e-mails. If only one of these stores had a pair of silver sandals I could actually wear, raher than the 6" ankle breakers, then I might atually be tempted!

As it is, I shall be staying well away!

Try LK Bennett Gill, I got some lovely ones from there in the summer that only have a 3" heel , if anything I would have liked a higher heel but I liked them so much I decided for once I would buy something sensible

Shame on me. I got mixed up. I managed to avoid Black Friday and Cyber Monday but on what I now know to be Giving Tuesday I gave myself a new Sat Nav that was £50 off the original price and £30 off the Black Friday price. Do I need to give it to Oxfam to purge my sin?

A TomTom Go 5000, with lifetime European maps and traffic updates.

My old one worked well enough but they've hiked the annual fee for map updates to over £50, so by getting those free in future this one will pay for itself in less than four years. I got the one with traffic updates because my old one without it led me straight into a 40 minute jam last week! I tried the new one on a rush hour drive into Stockport and it dodged all the worst queues brilliantly. I also considered the slightly cheaper Go 500 which links via your mobile phone to get the traffic updates, but this one has its own SIM so it's less faffy to set up and doesn't use any of your phone data allowance. It was a dream to set up. Just took it out of the box, turned it on and it led me through the set up/registration process and was ready to go in 5 minutes.

Well pleased so far.
