Bingo/gambling advertising

I have had very little opportunity to watch much TV for the last few months but over the last few days I have stuck my feet up and been clearing up various things I had recorded ... including Walking Dead, The Strain and American horror (only mentioned because they were all excellent).

Is it just me or are there now a lot more adverts for online gambling and bingo sites?
I am not really a gambler (in the traditional sense of the word) ... I just wonder if this could be the next 'financial timebomb' that will hit us and how long it will be before these adverts are regulated off the TV channels.

Gambling is a fool's paradise - and I don't get involved.

I haven't even managed to get (yet) to a casino onboard a ship! But this online gambling which we get bombarded with the advertising for - I reckon it should be banned ..... not just the adverts; I think that online gambling should be banned.

Let's face it - there are loads of people on benefits who waste their money (or should I say, maybe, our money) on gambling; and that is not what the benefit money is for.

I presume the online bingo parlours must be making plenty of money judging by the number of programmes they sponsor and the number of adverts they put out. I think online gambling must be more popular than we imagine and whilst not my cup of tea I imagine many must get some pleasure out of it. The problem arises when people spend more than they can afford or try to chase their losses.

On the subject of bingo I find it quite frustrating when attending a talk onboard ship and the bingo hordes start drifting in and chat incessantly. I find this inconsiderate and rude. What is even more perplexing is that when their bingo game is on, anyone making the slightest noise is subjected to icy glares and stares, and even a ssshhhh!! I suppose it just demonstrates the selfishness and thoughtlessness of some. Moan over!!

I agree entirely and wonder who is influenced by these adverts, and how on earth so many gambling companies seem able to make a profit?

One thing I've noticed both about the Bingo ads and the gambling ones is that the advertisers make it seem as though you are going to be having a party with like-minded people - all having fun together - when the reality is that people are probably on their own in their own homes and not mixing with anyone!

True, but now you don't even have to leave the comfort of your own home.

If a person is very careful about what they click, and don't make mistakes, it is possible to make £100's, if not £1000's using this system.

It is more than just the introductory offers, they seem to be building on the addictiveness of social media, chatboards etc. and try to build an entire social community around it ... the cynic in me says they will have 'plants'saying how much money they have made and encouraging other punters to play more.

l have noticed an increase in advertising for online gambling so clearly they think there are rich pickings to be had. Online gambling/accounts aren't something that intrests me as l prefer to see the reddies in my hand and not in my back account where my wife could get her hands on it.....for gawds sake she would think its Christmas every day of the week lol

The question as to who this type of advertising is aimed at would be more of a concern to me as l believe the most susceptible and yet untaped market are wemen punters who would be far more comfortable playing online than they would walking into a bookies to place a bet
