Cunard Website

Unread post by colwill »

For the past couple of days, trying to look at Cunard UK takes me to Cunard.com, the US site with dollar pricing. Would someone please be kind enough to check if this is a general problem, or a problem with my PC/ISP/any other initials you can think of :D .

Many thanks.

This is what I got when Googling Cunard UK.

I assume this is correct. http://www.cunard.co.uk/

I've been into the Cunard website today, (checking on a cruise and an excursion), and had no problems at all. However, whenever we are onboard it always comes up with the US prices etc., and also it won't let me into my CWC account - says I don't exist. I have no problem at all getting into my CWC account when I am in the UK.

I've just tried Cunard.co.uk and it's fine. Ok, on the homepage it does have an advert about obc which is as always in USD, but if you go to look at finding and booking a cruise and follow through, then the prices are in GBP.

It often defaults to the US site, but usually when they are updating the UK site.

Many thanks, all. I'm still getting the US site, even when clicking on Stephen's link, so problem must be at my end.

At 2.35pm on Monday 29th Dec I have just tried the .co.uk site for curiosity and it says the UK site is undergoing maintenance. That must be the problem Colwill.

Strange.

I just typed in cunard.com and it reverts to the .co.uk web site.

Whatever I type in it reverts to the US site, so clearly believes me to be a Yank. Have now tried the old trick of unplugging the router to change the ISP - no luck, plus have cleared cookies etc. Any other suggestions welcome!

Have you tried the John Cleese method and getting the stick out and giving it a good thrashing. :D

Probably not much help but here are the links to the various sites. You could also try resetting Internet Explorer, that's providing that is what you are using. Go to tools/internet options/advance tab/ and click on the Reset button at the bottom. Don't worry, you won't lose your saved favourites/book marks.

Very many thanks for your help, Stephen; big stick it is. Resetting IE didn't work, but hugely appreciative of your suggestions. DH's PC has the same problem, which is why I thought unplugging the router to change the ISP should help, but even that was no good. Any suggestions as to the best travel agent sites for pricing would be appreciated - just trying to check prices for a September cruise. The t/a websites I've checked only give the price for the lowest grade balcony cabins, not the full range.

I know that this may sound a silly question but who is your ISP? It is possible that for some reason the ISP is using a block of IP addresses that are thought to be American and the Cunard site believes that you are Americam and is routing you to their American site.

I know this all sounds a bit technical (which it is) but it is quite a normal procedure on many web sites (including this one) to ascertain where someone is logging in from and then take appropriate action.

PlusNet. Problem only started over Christmas, so doubtful, but thanks for suggestion. Plan Z is to try ringing them later.

I'm sure you will have already tried this but I'll say it anyway. If you happen to have an iPad or smart phone, try getting the web site up on them and see if you are still getting the same problem. This would then point more towards your ISP if the problem is still evident.

Morning All,

I've just checked, and whilst the small window on the home page is still showing (but it's correct) obc in dollars, for me the cruise prices are all still sterling.

I've also check my CP, and it's mostly correct, so that's ok.

How kind you all are, thank you again.

My little part of the UK still seems to be operating in dollars, but such is life. Know when you're beaten, that's what I say :relaxed:
