The good lady and I will be having a quiet night in with the log fire burning and watching the telly, and no doubt enjoying a glass or two. Whether we make it to see in the new year remains to be seen

Seeing In The New Year
What are we all doing, staying in or going out.

Re: Seeing In The New Year
We'll be at home thins year, in fact we haven't been out on New Years Eve for about 20 years.
I expect we'll stay up to see the new year in. I've seen every new year in since 1970, and I'm not giving up just yet

Re: Seeing In The New Year
Well currently we are in Helmsley where we were this time last year for out annual New Year break.
This morning we drove into Scarborough (not been there for 50 or more years - and won't be back in a hurry either) and had a bracing two hour walk along the seafront.
Tonight is a Black Tie dinner/dance with fireworks at midnight in the town square.

Re: Seeing In The New Year
We've had a nice walk this morning as per usual, and a quiet afternoon.
The old year seems sorry to say good bye, and the day is dragging - however we plan a simple quiet evening and early night.
Very best wishes to one and all for the happiest times in 2015.

Re: Seeing In The New Year
In the 40 or so years we have been married we have either gone out or had a house party on New Year's Eve. This year we have organised a DO at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mawdesle ... 872?ref=hl
Unfortunately there is a chest infection doing the rounds at the moment and people are gong down like flies

We are off out to a local hotel with friends for a champagne reception, meal, band, piper (to bring in the new year) and a disco into the wee hours.
Wishing you all a happy and prosperous new year

Re: Seeing In The New Year
A quiet one for us this year. Brian is still recovering after his illness this year, so he is not up to late nights and lots of celebrating. We will have a glass or two. Quite different from the New Year Eve's we have spent in the past. We have the future to look forward to. Wishing everyone on here a Happy and Healthy New Year. X

Re: Seeing In The New Year
We are going to some friends for the evening but I don't think I will be seeing in the New Year as I usually fall asleep about 10 ish especially if I have any wine so Ken will end up driving me home by 10.30/11 ish and then straight to bed for me. The trouble is, at midnight, people start setting off fireworks which go on and on and eventually wake me up and then I can't get back to sleep.
It's a sad life when you've got no staying power.
Happy New Year everyone.

I'm with you there Chris. It's been a bad year both health and family wise. Let's hope 2015 is better.
All the best to you and Brian

A rather L O N G lunch out with four friends, followed by a light buffet back at one couple's house and now back home to see in the New Year watching the fireworks on TV in bed!

Re: Seeing In The New Year
We usually go to friends for a lovely dinner but I spent it indoors with a box of tissues and another of strepsils! Dreadful cold that seems to be going the rounds - my generous husband gave it to me! He went off to the dinner but I don't think I'd have been welcome sneezing all over the place and didn't feel like it anyway so it was one glass of fizzy, watched the fireworks on TV then bed! Hopefully the year can only get better!
