Passport application ....

I've never heard of problems or issues relating to the delivery of passports by their courier service so, clearly, it works. In that case no need to change.

Still waiting for mine to be delivered, despite it saying late on Wednesday that it had been dispatched. Maybe it's gone the same way way as Shiney's ridge tiles.

I thought that they did deliveries on Saturdays too?

If it comes by courier (probably DX) it's a small white envelope with bold black printing which says that it is from the Passport Office.

Fingers crossed for you. Even though it is a weekend, if you use the website facility, you can type in a question and you'll probably have an answer within 24hours even on a weekend (I did).

My passport was dropped through the letter box by the courier this morning, he did not ring the bell or knock but presumably took his photo to prove he was here. A little later the old expired one came with the normal mail just before lunch, so I am all set up for the next 10yrs cruising, hope I get full use out of it.

Funnily enough my old passport got delivered through the letter box before 0800hrs here this morning - I thought it was the postman having a burst of energy, but it wasn't the postman - just the courier blokey. He didn't bother ringing the doorbell etc.

I did notice though, comparing the old one with the new one that on the old one the 'information page' with the photo on it was laminated - but the new one isn't laminated.

Apparently that's ok, it's the new way of doing it - maybe they've been taking lessons in cutting costs from Cunard and P&O???

We received our passports today and our 'information page' was laminated. Perhaps it depends on which Passport Office you use.

We renewed our passports using the Post Office Check and Send service last Friday and my husband's and son's passports arrived this morning by courier just as we were going out of the front door. My husband signed for them and the courier took a photograph of the house number at the side of the door. Later this morning their old passports arrived by post. I was surprised that mine had not arrived. Then.... this evening our neighbour from next-door-but-one came round with two envelopes one containing my new passport and the other containing the old one. He said he had found them on his doormat when he came home from work. The envelopes had my name on but his address. I have phoned the passport helpline to inform them of the error.

I'm not being a fusspot (honest), but personally I don't think it will stand much wear and tear - and also of course, it's not waterproof or smudge proof - time will tell. If it fails, they can replace it and be responsible for any inconvenience suffered.

Thanks goodness you've got such lovely neighbours, and it's great that you've got your passport now safe and sound. Have a great trip.

Hi Sue,

Love the new avatar - very smart! Anyway, I don't go 'looking for problems' so that problems can disrupt my plans, I simply strive to ensure that this is as little disruption or inconvenience as possible. Add to that the fact that when I've paid for something I hope for good service, or a good product - and I'm sure we all do that really.

Hopefully by highlighting some of the stuff I've experienced others will be able to judge if what they are going through is 'the norm' or below par - in which case they can then try and do something about it.

I don't mind getting the odd criticism or two providing that there is a chance that somehow, sometime I've helped somebody.
