The New Look Web Site

Unread post by Stephen »

First off, Congratulations to David for his work on the new look web site

There are some features I like and I'm sure I will get use to it, or, and I can hear it now, I can bu99er off somewhere else :). However, and this is just my personal opinion, I prefer the look, layout and ease of use of the old site.

As I said, this is just my personal opinion, so don't shoot me down in flames please. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Thanks Stephen.

As I said before there were technical reasons why the site had to change sooner or later - it was nothing to do with change for changes sake, or I have nothing better to do so let's upset everyone (especially Stephen ;) )

I suspect a lot of that is down to familiarity and most of us do not like change. Knowing that the site would have to change at some point I have been working with the new layout for over six months and at first I found it difficult to find my way round but now that I have got used to it I find it much easier, and certainly quicker - in fact I was starting to find the "old" site awkward to use.

Like the new style site especially the quick links. Probably suits the way I use the site. Only problem is the colour change showing the border between articles is quite subtle ( or my eyes ain't so great!).

Try changing your board style to prosilver, this gives better definition.

Having had a hell of a time with my PC since the VGA crashed last month, when I logged in here at first, I thought " Oh no! Not another b***** problem".

I'm toying with either Pro silver or Pro silver Special Addition. Currently on Special Addition. I think the Special addition is a bit easier on the eyes :wtf:

Just thought I'd let you know that bit of useful information :)

David, the site seems to be having problems again, I think, it's taking a long time to refresh and some of the thread icons are sometimes missing.
Of course it could be my laptop which has also been playing up of late. :o

I was actually thinking the opposite. For me it has been running faster than ever for the last day or so

I've used the forum for the first time on my tablet (normally use the PC) and was very impressed with how well it works on the smaller screen - much better than many websites
