Blue Monday
Apparently today is called Blue Monday but for us on the Isle of Wight it has been a very nice day. I'm sure some areas have had some horrible weather but we sat on Cowes seafront this morning and the sun was quite warm if you were sensibly dressed. The sea was like a millpond with lots of little boats out and there was no way we could call it a depressing day. Hope everyone else is keeping warm and cheerful.

Re: Blue Monday
We had a walk around Crummock Water this afternoon and the fells were not as snow covered as I thought they would be. Some seemed to have caught the snow more than others, possibly as the snow showers passed through. It has been bitterly cold for a few days so we were well prepared with hats and gloves but once we got walking it wasn't actually too bad although it did nip your ears a bit. The problem is, at this time of the year, the sun drops below the mountain line quite early so the valleys are very much in the shade for the greater part of the day. Some of the old farms and little cottages which we see on summers' days, which look so inviting, hardly get any sunshine in the winter when they are in the lee of the mountain. I expect they are dark and cold. If you keep warm you do get some lovely days in winter. Not long now until we see lambs in the fields.

It was a lovely day here too, although very, very cold and the dusting of snow in the garden didn't disappear at all. Best of all though, the farmer that owns the field behind us, cut the hedge - it is protected and only he is allowed to cut it - so we have a wonderful vew once again.
Yes, a lovely day.
Yes, a lovely day.

Who was it who said ... " There's no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing " ... ?
We also had wall to wall sunshine, albeit a tad nippy, and it would have been a great day for a walk around somewhere like NT's Stourhead but we had to stay in for workman who are presently laying a ( pseudo ) wooden floor.

The first time I heard the thing about no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing was on a cruise to the Fjords.
Now - not that I'm Stephen and clever or anthing, but if you do a reply, then go into the full editor thing, look on the row of icons immediately just above the bit you've typed in the text box, then the scrolling marquee thing is 5th in from the end of the row of icons...... maybe.

Well, that is about the only thing that I DO NOT like. It distracts from reading the post, worsens my eyesight problem having no option but to follow the scrolling test, and is an unnecessary gimmick, IMO. Hopefully peeps will soon tire of it and it will be used less.
Boris, surely you mean drawers, as in the original!!

Sir Ranulph Fiennes is generally credited with this, but somewhat earlier, Alfred Wainwright stated "There is no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing" .

I don't think it was Ranulph T.W.F who said that - but I reckon it's quite true nonetheless.
