Are cars getting bigger to cope with obesity.

Unread post by towny44 »

We bought a new car in October a Golf SV to replace to replace our 6 yr old Golf plus; the replacement model and very similar to the old one, but noticeably bigger, and this is certainly felt with the seat design. They are a wrap round style with padded wings, but both my wife and I have commented how they are not as comfortable as the old ones, due entirely to them being bigger and therefore the wrap round effect is far less effective and they don't hold us in place as well.
Has anyone else noticed their new car is now designed for plus size drivers and passerngers.

Can't say I have. My SIL's three-year old Peugeot convertible is actually quite cramped.

Not sure if it's for obesity, but I've certainly noticed cars getting bigger, especially wider. It seems that each model gets a little bigger and then they introduce a new small one at the bottom of the range. Certainly the current VW Polo seems as big as the early Golfs and the latest Ford Fiesta is not a lot different from the first Focus.

Our choice of supermarket is partly selected because it is the only one with spaces wide enough to give you half a chance of avoiding dented doors.

If the seats are not as comfortable why did you buy it.

Hopefully Lady Dark doesn't frequent the forum or she might get the wrong idea and it could be curtains for Darkest one :)
