Re: Valentines day
I am thinking of maybe allowing Julie the afternoon off from her usual housework. I won't be doing flowers this year since the graveyard closes early on Thursdays but, as an extra sweetener, I may let her share my cod supper when I finally get in from the pub.
With all these gestures I am sure that my luck will be in later on in the evening (might even slip out to grab a rose from the neighbours garden that I can clench between the teeth while posing in my sexiest black leather mankini ... with fluffy bunny tail)

Well we are pushing the boat out and going to The Waterside Inn at Bray (patron Alain Roux son of Michel Roux, 3 Micheline Stars) for an overnight stay and dinner. Need cheering up, found out day before last the purchase on a house has fallen through, so we are back to square one.
Mind you when Popeye the sailorman sees the size of the bill, I dont think he will be cheery

Re: Valentines day
nothing
as it is an event made up by card companies to sell more cards and has no meaning
why wait for one day a year to do something nice for your other half, it should not need a card company to tell you to appreciate you other half, they should know you love them and empty gestures one day a year really don't mean owt

Re: Valentines day
Absolutely nothing well ever top our Valentines Day last year - sailing out of LA heading for Hawaii in a gorgeous suite - there was a nice big Valentines cake at the restaurant (very pretty but we never got to eat any of it), and the pudds were suitably decorated too at dinner.
This year - I don't think there will be anything special for me on 'the day' - but I am reliably informed (threatened) that I am being taken (kicking and screaming silently) to a blasted model train exhibition. Oh joy, oh wonderous pink fluffy clouds of (edited by me of my own free will)

Re: Valentines day
For us the big day is the 12th which will be the 47th anniversary of the night that we met, which was actually at a St Valentine's day event. We were both 16 at the time. We're going to see Phantom of the Opera at the Mayflower theatre.

We will be celebrating Valentines day.
Baby sitting.
Whilst our daughter and her other half, are out celebrating with a meal, at a local Italian restaurant.

Re: Valentines day
The bloke who does the sports reports on Radio 2's breakfast show has a good idea. He and his wife have young children so every Tuesday during term time they designate it a "Date Day" and take it in turns to decide where they will go for a day out together.
Sounds a much better idea than a prefabricated once-a-year do when hotels are overbooked, flowers are overpriced and chocolates over-subscribed

Nothing much here, though I expect we'll exchange cards, our new kitchen is coming next day, so we'll be very busy.

Re: Valentines day
I'm Allergic to Flora and Fauna and I don't like chocolate so I'm happy to give Valentine a wide berth. I'm sure my hubby loves me all year round (Most of the time anyway)
