Great Gadgets
Having got fed up with garage forecourts and the various air lines I decided to but my own little compressor. In the past I have had a few, neither of which were particularly quick or efficient but I have just invested in a Ring Automatic Digital Air Compressor from Screwfix which cost me £19.99 plus a £10 voucher they sent me and it is absolutely marvellous. I had my tyres topped up with air in next to no time; it switches itself off once it reaches the required pressure and means no more trips to the garage. This is one gadget which does what it says.
My other great gadget is my Philips Airfryer which will cook low fat chips and wedges and does sausage a treat without the need for the grill or the frying pan.
A little while ago I wanted a coffee machine. I had previously had a DeLonghi but after a short while it leaked. Based on past experience, not knowing what to go for and not wanting to spend too much I bought a Morphy Richards. It doesn't grind coffee beans or anything fancy but it does make a decent cup of espresso and has a half decent milk frother. Consequently each morning we can settle down to our own Cappuccinos.
Any other good gadget buys?

Re: Great Gadgets
Some people check their tyre pressure every week which would make the Screwfix compressor a good buy. Me, I tend to only check the pressures if they happen to look a bit low or we are going on a long journey, which might only be two or three time a year.
So for me it's, local garage, take off all tyre valve caps including spare, set digital pressure, 20p in machine, away you go. A few minutes later job done.
I like the sound of the compressor for pumping up the car tyres Foxy, but that's allot of 20p's to re-coupe the investment. And I wonder how accurate it is compared to the calibrated garage forecourt air pumps.

Re: Great Gadgets
At your rate Stephen it would take between 50 and 75 years. However I tend to check my tyres quite regularly so it's really convenient for me, especially as my local garage doesn't have an air line any more.
As for accuracy I'm not too worried as long as the same pressure is in each pair of tyres. I always put a few pounds extra pressure in my tyres anyway.

Re: Great Gadgets
I use the Sainsbury's forecourt for regular top ups, which is free at the moment, but I have a gadget similar to Foxy's but more basic in the boot for emergencies.
One of our best buy gadgets is a gizmo that boils water a cup or mug at a time. You fill the cup/mug, pour it in the top of the gizmo, put the cup/mug under the spout and 20-30 seconds later it comes back out boiling. Great if you're just doling one or two cups of tea, which we do most of the time. Cheaper than boiling a kettle, which inevitably contains more water than we need, and quicker too.

My favourite outside gadget is a small Bosch cordless hedge cutter. We have had it for years, and it keeps all the shrubs tidy, it is easy to use and not heavy.
Indoors a good gadget is the Karcher window cleaner.

A good gadget is deffo the Karcher window cleaner like wot Jay uses but I tend to use ours for clearing condensation on those really cold mornings.
As for tyres compressors ... well, the least I can do is to ask Mobietta if she would like one

Hi Obf,
We have just purchased one of those floor steam cleaners ( Vax....£69.99 Argos) It comex with numerous attachments, most of which you will probably never use, nevertheless initial results are very favorable.
Good buy me thinks but l'll give you all a more definitive appraisal once my wife has finished cleaning the utility floor
Regards
Keith

Tefal Actifry definitely one of the best.
Also, a wifi storage gadget which can be used to transfer stuff from a tablet, laptop or whatever either onto the gadget, an SD card or flash drive and back the other way.

Btw...your tyre compressor sounds just the biss.....especially so when you consider our local garage tyre pump is often out of service, Also l generaly check out our cars , oil , tyre pressure etc at the same time so it can be a bit of hassle going back and forth to to garage. I think l might put this one on my Birthday wish list.

Do you think your OH would like one for her birthday instead of your usual Keefy chocolates?Onelife wrote:Btw...your tyre compressor sounds just the biss.....especially so when you consider our local garage tyre pump is often out of service, Also l generaly check out our cars , oil , tyre pressure etc at the same time so it can be a bit of hassle going back and forth to to garage. Forgot to mention - the connector screws onto the valve so you don't have the problem of half deflating the tyre whilst trying to get the connector on. Magic!
Agree what you say about the Karcher. one of our best buys. I can clean the windows, including the conservatory in next to no time and when the sun shines on them there are none of those awful smudges.

OBF...l personally think it would be a great present for my wife but the power drill and accessories l bought her last year didn't go down too well so l think it best that l stick with the chocolates..... she has only just started talking to me again.

Not surprised really. She would probably have been much happier with a set of saucepans. You have to know how to spoil a lady.

I can beat that - one Christmas many, many years ago, Tony gave me a ............................ a tin opener!!!!! It wasn't my only present, and it WAS a great tin opener, in fact I still use it, but I wasn't thrilled! And like your neighbour, I remind him each and every year that I do NOT want another!Dancing Queen wrote:One of our neighbours gave his wife a chopping board for Xmas one year and she still hasn't let him forget it

Re: Great Gadgets
I never buy my wife the wrong present.
I just don't buy her presents .
Saves a lot of trouble in having to explain, why I had taken money out of our joint account.

She only allows me enough money for a newspaper each day, but as I don't buy newspapers, have nearly got enough stashed away for a new camera lens, thats for me.
