Engage brain before putting sat-nav into gear!

Well, they were from Texas - remember Dubya............

Actually there has long been a saying in the travel industry that when people go on holiday, they leave their brains at home..!

There's a sign at the end of someone's long front drive near us that says "Turn round now, Sat Nav wrong". I guess they've had a few unexpected arrivals.

When heading through Southampton once my Sat Nav ordered me to turn into a one way street (heading the wrong way). When I drove past instead she rerouted and took me round the block to have another go at the same thing!

I think Ireland had just taken over production at that time Merv :)

Given the way some people blindly follow their instructions, perhaps 'prat-nav' would be a more appropriate name for these devices :-)

My wife Cheryl finds it very amusing when I argue with the sat nav, I have a pretty good knowledge of the road system but use the sat nav for the other features like traffic, speed reminders and then for the last mile or two for finding a particular place or address. The nice young lady inside the little box is giving me directions and I'm splurting out things like "You what!!!! M25 Eastbound at this time of day ?" or "M6 Toll do you think I'm made of money" Then there's the "take Exit 24 A453" to which I'll reply "you're avin a bad day woman I've only got half a tank of petrol I'll have to push it the rest of the way"
Then there's the first time I drove to a little village just outside Hesdin in France and roadworks had shut the road with little or no diversion sign so after going round in circles three times I decided to mute Sally Satnav In The Box and use my pigeon satellite system which was that church steeple we see must be in Hesdin and we want to be south west of that so we will take this road. On arrival at our destination I blurted out to Sally "A fat lot of good you were Sal" my wife was in stitches laughing but it was two glasses of wine, I meant two hours before I saw the funny side.

Mine's called "Shirley"

Often, when she says "after 300 yards, turn right", my response is "Shirley not" !!

Like that one gbman it's a good job you don't travel with us Cheryl would have a right giggle at us talking to a satnav.
I wonder how many of our fellow forum'ers will admit to talking to their satnav.

Guilty of talking to my sat nav too but I changed mine too a male voice - the lady was far too nice and got offended when I swore at her  I take no nonsense from this man and tell him off but he keeps coming back for more

The woman in my sat nav is the only one I've come across that doesn't nag and doesn't answer back although she does have a nasty habit of butting in when I'm talking to someone. If I don't do as I'm told the worst she says is 'Recalculating, recalculating'.

I admit I do argue with mine, but she is far more polite about it than Trish used to be before the satnav arrived!

The satnav never says 'There you are. I told you so!'

How on earth can any normal person even think of talking to a Satnav, why, if I spoke to my ' Lulu ' she would probably think I was going doolally or had been drinking ... :?

My old one used to get quite excited if I drove on a new road that wasn't in its data bank..... It also seemed to have a love affair with the M61, - and would include it in the route whenever possible.
