Dress colour debate

Unread post by anneed »

You can't have missed the debate on that photo of a dress that's gone viral online. So what's the opinion on this forum? Blue and black or white and gold?

To me it looks light blue and brown!

And yeah I know - who cares anyway - but it's a bit of fun.

That's what we said earlier, and she's wearing it for her daughter's wedding :o .

Blue and black in one photograph I've seen, light blue and gold in another. No white in sight.

I saw the photo yesterday and it was definitely royal blue and black, but then two minutes later the very same photo was yellowy gold and brilliant white.

You cannot possibly tell because the colour of your screen will be way off the actual colour of the dress ... this is why one should never buy anything at all on the t'internet where colour is all important and is unseen in a shop.

Article in The Times today about this dress - the manufacturer has confirmed it is blue and black. There is a long explanation of why we see it white and gold as well - all very technical - whatever I agree with DQ don't like it anyway

Tyndall Effect? I know the colours mentioned are different but could it be a similar principle ?

Is it not a case of over exposing a photo? In one photograph it looks what it is, black and blue. However on another photograph it looks gold and very pale blue/lavender.
Either way this lass should get commission since sales have rocketed.
