I wish I could think of an excuse but I can't. Playing with just one striker up front the best we could have done was get a draw. Had we played a more attacking formation we could (and nearly would) have won. I can't see the purpose of playing with 5 at the back when you need to win games.
Apart from Mob it looked like draws all round.

That is exactly what cost Peter Taylor his job Foxy.

I'd rather see us go down all guns blazing that out with a whimper.

Since we went back to 4-4-2 we've gone on a run of 8 games unbeaten.

Five wins, three draws (all score draws)

Our Muppet ref fell into our dastardly Hornet type trap and also awarded a non penalty for the Canaries's first goal, the plan was then to let them win ( but not 3:0 ) to help them get auto promotion so that we don't have to play them in the play-offs ... worked a treat

Big game for Town tonight (well, as far as I'm concerned anyway), at home vs Reading. Need an improvement in the home form to beat a recently improved Royals side, and gain bragging rights over my best friend who hails from Reading.

Oh yes! A much better team display albeit it against a poor-looking Reading side. A first goal for big Ishmael Miller, and Nakhi Wells back on the scoresheet too. It was a joy to watch, and I ain't said that for a while.

Great result for the Terriers tonight, just a pity I chose to watch Saturday's bore draw, the radio commentary said we played some good football tonight and fully deserved our win.
No doubt Romig will give us a first hand report later.
Oops he's already beaten me to it.

In the Championship 7 of the top 8 played and won ( including us  ) ... that puts the pressure on 4th place Bournemouth for their game in hand against Forest.

It was a night of games going according to league position in the main.... I think only two of the bottom half won, with the rest losing...which made it an especially good evening for Town (oh and Dirty L**ds lost too!)

.... and we play dirty Leeds at theirs on Saturday :wtf:

The Cherries felt the pressure and dropped 3 points, not a good sign for them perhaps.

Getting near to squeaky bum time , lads.

League one has the top five pulling away with the sixth playoff spot between fourteen clubs.

Gills could easily finish 6th or 16th. I've never seen a tighter league.
Normally 50 points keeps you up but tha's unlikely this season.

I feel that Bournemouth will likely blow it.
Maybe not a bad thing as they are no where near to a Premier league set up.
They are really a league one outfit with a benevolent owner.

Personally I'd like to see Derby win it, as I've got money on them

Another great result for us Hornets beating Leeds 3:2 after being two down. We strengthen our position and move up to 3rd because Bournemouth, Derby and Middlesbrough all dropped points ... as will Norwich and/or Ipswich when they play each other tomorrow.

I am very happy to celebrate, even on my ownsome, cos in a wee while we have Ipswich, Derby and Middlesbrough in consecutive matches :(

ps ... G F DoubleYer ... I think the bubble may indeed have burst cos the players are not really ready for the Prem even though their system is, was, working very well in the Championship. Teams get used to a style and the Cherries don't seem to have a convincing plan B. Ditto Southampton.

RIP Dave MacKay. I hated him when he played against us but what a great player he was.

Wins for Bournemoth and Southampton. Thumbs up for Mob - all very tight at the top for the automatic promotion places but not so good for Romig. Good night for barney too away from home.
Meanwhile the cynic in me says the Baggies have given their neighbours a bit of help and the three promoted teams from last season now occupy the relegation places.

Great result for us but also for Barney beating Swindon 0:3, tell me is goal scoring Jake the ' son of ' ?

Yep Moby

Son of Watford legend Andy

I can remember Jake as a four year old, warming up before every game with his old man at Gills.

You could tell even then that he was destined to be a footballer.
Another off our very productive line of Academy players.

Bradley Dack is the one to watch out for. An attacking midfielder in the Lampard mould.

But 3 nil away to our six fingered cousins in Swindon. Life don't get much better. :lolno:

Sad news yesterday Dave MacKay was a legend and a gentleman and I'm sure there will be a few glasses raised in his honour in the local pubs of Burton Joyce, Notts. where he lived.
Dave played his game with grit and passion which is sadly missing in players of today that is why my money does not go through the turnstiles any more. I prefer to watch teams outside of the Football League now where there are 22 players on the pitch all wanting to win and the only injury worries they have is whether they will be able to limp into work after a knock.
Being a Nottingham lad I was a regular visitor to the City Ground and Meadow Lane and saw some great players like Tommy Lawton, Tony Hatley, Joe Baker, Ian Storey Moore and Peter Shilton to name a few. I remember the surviving Busby Babes coming to the City Ground just after the Munich disaster and the biggest roar and applause I have ever seen for a visiting team, there was passion on and off the pitch in that game.
I have read through the post and some of the replies have been quite interesting and I agree with some of the posts particularly the one from the referee (I think it was Quizzicle) about having respect for referee's decisions. Being an ex ref. myself I know only too well that a game played at the pace it is in the professional leagues there is little time to make a decision and the ref. only see's it from one angle not from a bank of screens like the pundits on tv who sometimes surprise me with their lack of knowledge regarding the rules.
The ref. not only has to keep an eye on what is happening on the ball but often there are infringements happening off the ball which can affect his judgement at times. If two players have got their handbags swinging in the refs view he is trying to keep an eye on two situations if another two players are going fifty fifty for a ball on the edge of the penalty area.
It is nice to see that a forum has been set up for the cruise community and that there are some familiar names from the old P&O community, well done and keep up the good work.

Rather disappointed with the result tonight. We gave Man City most of the possession with our 9-1 formation but were denied a definite penalty and hit the post so a point would not have been unreasonable. However it's clear they have some very classy players although they were made to look better than they were by our giving the ball away too easily.
Never mind, hopefully we can give Hull a good tanking on our soil in 10 days time!!!!
I see Wigan did Watford a good turn tonight!!
