Getting back on topic - I was reading yesterday that some schools did not allow their pupils to see the eclipse because of "cultural and religious" reasons :wtf:

Schools are supposed to stimulate a childs intrest in all aspects of science so depriving a pupil the experience of witnessing this rare astronomical event is absolutely crazy.

If the decison was based on cultural/religious grounds then they should either replace the head or close the school...end of.

On a religious note it should perhaps be remembered that the masses were frightened witless by the power of the Witch Doctor / Cleric in the ye goode olde dayes when his powers seemingly predicted and then caused the sun to vanish and for the World as they knew it to be plunged into total darkness ... WHOOOOOO !!!
