Long Johns
Dear Forumeers
It is a tad chilly in Hull tonight and I am just about to go out to watch a Rugby League match.
I have lots of layers on including my long johns.
I know it is rather an intimate question but how many of you gents, or ladies, are also the proud wearers of sensible underwear?
Regards

Count me in AOTH.
I wear them for golf and watching footie. Also wore them when I went skiing.
Mine are Helly Hansen with the proper Y front.

I always buy the mens thermal long sleeve tee shirts in winter and I buy mens socks from M & S.... they are both better quality than the ladies. When I was at work the chaps used to wear ladies tights under their trousers on night shift aswell as long johns.....

Not long johns, but when it's really cold, as it wasa couple of weeks ago, I do wear a pretty thermal vest.

AOTH
I used to wear a combi set when sea fishing from the shore and when out by the rigs in the north sea
I admit to being a tad surprised that a tough northern type such as yourself would wear such frippery
I had you down for wearing your wifes tights

Oh yes - a must for winter time golf, and maybe even for long winter walks. There's no point in being uncomfortable.

We invested in a variety of thermal underpinnings for our Christmas cruise on Oceana and we were toasty warm!

Re: Long Johns
I have two pairs of long-johns for wearing at the footie. A thinner pair for normal winter conditions, and a thicker pair for really cold days. Only problem is when one needs to go to the loo....multiple underlayers and a cold day doesn't make the process very easy!
Regarding socks....my record is 2 standard pairs plus some thicker hiking socks...I bought boots one size too big to accommodate extra socks too...not forgetting the fleecy innersoles!
On top I have been known to wear a thermal vest, a long-sleeved tee-shirt, a roll-neck jumper, my footie shirt and a thick thermal coat. I may look somewhat like the Michelin Man....but at least I'm warm!

When I used to do a lot of sea fishing by boat, especially overnight, or night fishing on the pier.
Although I had an Arctic weather fishing suit , I still use to wear long johns and even tights, underneath to keep the cold at bay.
I have a set of M/S thermal underwear, including long johns in the drawer, I cannot remember the last time I wore them.

Re: Long Johns
I had a couple of pairs issued for when I was on guard duty during the winter - came in very handy after retirement when riding a motorbike to work in the cold! Don't bother now - ankle socks and a pair of trousers is all I need in the recent arctic conditions...

Proud to admit that I wear long johns whilst motor-biking in the winter. Military arctic socks, and a silk balaklava also contribute to me staying warm whilst out there on the road.

Re: Long Johns
Well I have no long johns but its a consideration because the property we are house sitting is like a meat locker, so thermal tops and new
fluffy slippers have been purchased, as well as an electric blanket.
When its cold layers are a damn good idea.
