2015 Grand National

Unread post by Onelife »

Hello punters,

Not that most of you will give a hoot but the Aintree festival starts tomorrow with the Grand National taking center stage on Saturday.

With the ground conditions drying out all the time its sure going to be a race that favour top of the ground horses and those that can keep up with what will be a very fast pace.

Ok, so whats going to win this years Grand National?.... It looks a fiercely competitive race this year so perhaps a tin of pins might be requied to find this years winner. Anyhow here is a link to the horses that have made the cut....bear in mind some may be withdrawn thus allowing a few reserves to scrap into the maximum field of forty runners.

http://www.grand-national-guide.co.uk/g ... unners.php

Here are my three against the field

(1) Al Co

(2) Balthazar King

(3) Saint Are

Good luck

Regards

OL

If we back your tips, OL, do you give us our money back if we lose?

Yeah..of cource I will Merv, I might even send you a box of Keefy chocolates as well

If you have a spare couple of quid you might like to cut your Saturday losses by having a £1 ew on 'Haverstock' in the 3.05 at Taunton tomorrow.

Whatever happens

Keep smiling :)

I'll be having my usual flutter Keefy

I haven't looked at the runners yet but as you know if I like the name of something I'll back it .. it seems to work as well as anything for me and very little skill needed, which is just as well as I don't have any

I'll probably choose one of yours too if any of them are worth backing to win

Merv I've had some good tips off Keefy in the past when I've been going to the races but I always have a limit and usually expect to lose so if I win that's a bonus .. I just enjoy the day out.

I would love to go to the GN.

Hello Jo,

None of my selections come with a whole lot of confidence but if l had to put one forward l would take a chance with Al Co. Unfortunately the horse comes to the race with a lot of 'ifs'... one of which is that the horse tried the national fences once before and didn't appear to enjoy the experience, however, given the fact that it has been laid out for this race, looks like getting good ground and has a trainer with a good record in this race it's gota be 20p on the nose.

SOLL.... from the David Pipe stable isnt without a chance either but as l said in my opening post there are far to many with good chances in this years race.

Good luck

Regards

Keefy

When you say 'each way', does that mean the poor horse has to run back to the start line as well as the finish line :? ...................................................................

I fancy Royale Knight, and Chance du Roy. Not that I know anything. My interest has been caused by watching Channel 4 Racing, for a couple of months, and by the Gold Cup. I wont be backing Pineau de Rey, or Lord Windermere, both easily beaten when I watched them run last time. Is that Shutthe FrontDoor such short odds because McCoy is riding him? Merely sentiment, and the bookies covering their backsides just in case?

Point to point was really exciting, the thunder of the hooves and all that stuff.

Hi Frank,

Shutthefrontdoor positon at the head of the betting market will no doubt have been influenced by punters hoping for a fairytale ending to what as been his glittering career. The fact that he has chosen this horse above others he could have ridden speaks for itself. The horse has the class to win but having watched a couple of his runs where he nearly uprooted a couple of fences leaves me thinking AP will be needing some super glue if he is going to get round.....but l wouldn't bet against him not doing so.

Of your two selections Royale Knight looks to have a good chance but it might be prudent to see which of P Hobbs horses stable jockey Richard Johnson chooses to ride.

We were saying yesterday while watching Ch4, that with those fences it is really wide open. Even a solid jumper like Arctic Fire can make a bad mistake, and I reckon Ruby Walsh had the beating of AP McCoy in that one, until he fell. Sue tends to go by the name of the horse and what it looks like in the ring. I am leaning towards the form book, the ground and the course. We are going to put imaginary bets on every race this week and see what we would have won or lost. If we make any sort of imaginary profit I might break my promise and have a proper bet on some when the 'jumps' season starts agin later in the year. I cant raise any enthusiasm for the flat.

All this because we watched the Cheltenham festival, and went to point to point. Must be mad.

Hi Frank,

l was so pleased to see Arctic Fire get up after what looked a horrible fall. I agree with you as l also think he had the mesure of Jezki but consider myself very furtunate having backed Jezki. Still lost on the day though mostly due to that donkey l tipped up at Taunton (Haverstock) Although there was money for it at tje off there was somthing clearly amiss with it as it was beaten after the second fence.

Backed four today....Dell' Arca, Commissioned, Don Cozzack and Darna over the big fences.

Keep smiling

Keith

Yes, after Saruni fell badly right in front of us last aturday, we were very concerned for Arctic Fire. Beautiful creatures, but very vulnerable in racing. :-) Horses too!!

2015 Grand National.

1 Many Clouds 25/1
2 Saint Are 25/1
3 Monbeg Dude 40/1
4 Alvarado 20/1

As for my selections Al Co got no further than the first, Balthizars King fell canal turn (still no news if he escaped injury) Saint Are ran a cracker to finish second.

Well done if you managed to find the winner

Just shows how little I understand this stuff. But really I want to bet a 7 night deposit in an inside cabin and win enough for a world cruise in a suite. Is that too much to ask?

We were still looking at Royale Knight. I think it was a crditable 6th, but we would have lost all our imaginary winnings by guessing each way on Fiday's racing. It is good fun, but I wouldn't like to be addicted using real money.

I'm a bit worried about Sue, She wants to bring Sam Twiston-Davies home!! :-)

He gets my sympathy!!! I fell off a stone hurdle a week or so ago and cracked a couple of ribs. Progress for me is also slow (and painful) but I'll need more than a bucket of grass to keep me going!!!
OH couldn't find the insurance policy otherwise she might have had me put down!!!
