I find Milliband quite creepy when he looks into the camera, all doe-eyed and says "Friends, believe me............." For so long as he has friends Harmann, Cooper, Balls & Co lurking behind him I wouldn't believe a word he says. "Et tu, Brute?".
And after five years of Tory rule I can't say matters have perceptibly improved around these parts at all.
I was slightly amused (?) to hear that the high speed link into London, which is costing billions and rising, would benefit the rest of the country by providing a link out of the capital. Do these people honestly expect us to believe that?

sadly it is nothing more than the equivalent of a political X factor or any other popularity contest, power hungry egotists who are in it for the money and power
Once they have done their stint, it is off to the private sector to make the real money and bollox to those the promised to help. Blair being a prime example of how to screw a whole generation

I see someone who sucked up to the unions and in doing so deprived his Brother of becoming a bloody good prime minister.

I can't believe the Labour Party turned down David in favour of Ed.
Of course Natalie Bennett and her Green Party comes out with a different political perspective.
Thank goodness she has little or no chance of getting in. Every time I see her I can't help thinking 'fairies, the, with, away!!' However I accept some will find the Green policies attractive. Just not for me.

And boy can she rabbit. I saw her on the Andrew Marr show, and I was thinking 'shut up woman and draw breath for five seconds'. Poor old Andrew was struggling to get a word in edge ways.

Ye Gods Dark Knight!! That's three times this year we have agreed on something. How Bliar has the audacity to appear in public amazes me; totally discredited as a socialist.

Glad to see my post got the juices flowing though. I hate to see the Forum grinding to a halt.

Hi Mr foxy,

I think it was the case that union members followed their leaders endorsment of a more manulilative party leader/contender and as you imply certainly not the man who would have made a better labour party leader.

As with most fringe parties once they digress from their core values it is then that they start floundering. I don't think anyone would suggest that the Green Party are anything other than an awarness party but being part of the political prossess they have to put forward their manifesto even though most of it is a load of bollo*ks. Nethertheless the likes of the Greens and UKIP do imo have a role to play in our political system... if nothing else they draw political attention to issues that would otherwise be swept under the ministerial carpet.

I agree Keith. Unfortunately the unions hold great sway in the Labour Party and whilst they can keep a check on workers' rights, for my money they have become too political and arguably responsible for bringing a lot of industry to its knees with outdated and unsustainable practices. A good example was dockers in Liverpool refusing to handle freight containers. Look at the container trade now and it's commonplace.
Pity the Greens' ideas are so extreme since they could provide a different and viable alternative to the two main parties. Much as I dislike Ms Sturgeon at least Scotland has somebody who will fight and argue the cause for Scotland. It's just a pity we have nobody fighting the corner for England. (Sorry Wales but I thought your lady was a bit of a lame duck. Reminded me of Gwendoline in Wallace and Gromitt).
Sadly there's not much of a difference between the two main parties despite what they all say. It's what they don't tell which is disturbing.

Hi Foxy,

I didn't see the Natalie Bennett interview which you referred to but having listened to her before, she dose seem to fall short when pressed on certain political issues. Perhaps she would be better off doing as more seasoned political figures do and answer the question with a question thus avoiding having to give a straight answer to the original question?

I understand what you are saying re unions. I do however think unions have moved forward in the process of negotiations between employer and employees and certainly from the 'one out all out' days. In recent times not having the ability for employees to move from one job to another has had a significant influence as to the negotiating powers of unions, this I believe has been to the detriment of workers rights. There is a balance to be had but that balance currently sways decidedly in favour of the employer which is backed up by a Government that sees any militant action as holding the country to ransom.

When this Government charge an independent review body to recommend a wage increase for nurses etc and do so, only then to find the government renege on that recommendation then you can understand why my wife would go on strike tomorrow....If this government is left in power nurses and doctors will be leaving the NHS in there droves.

I might have another rant tomorrow :)

Keith, it was ever thus. Politicians always have to find a scapegoat to cover their own inadequacy.
I look forward to tomorrow's rant. Now calm down!!!

I have yet to decide which way to vote, but have this nasty feeling that the choice will be mad on the basis of the 'least bad option'!

I meant to write " The choice will be made" A Freudian slip perhaps?

we have the delight of being marginal, so the heavies have been sent in - along with the attendant media frenzy - right down to photos of Boris tucking into liver and bacon in the local caff! Hasn't he a constituency of his own to nurse?

And why do they think we are more likely to believe them and vote for them if they feed lambs, hug children or lay a few bricks when we all know they can't wait to hurry back to London never to be seen again for another five years till the next election?

Hear hear foxy,

And why do they think we will be taken in by all their manifesto pledges when we know they'll be doing u-turns on most of them within weeks of being elected.

Yep, it always amuses me when they come out with the carrot bag, and you think if they can do all these things if they are re-elected why haven't they already done them
