Unread post by Dark Knight »

8.15 this morning found me in the swimming pool at the gym starting a 60 length swim
a tad early thought I but I do feel better for it, this is becoming a regular event and we are back there tomoz for more of the same

so what does the forum do, to keep in trim? 8-)

Before people get all impressed...perhaps you should explain that the pool is only 5m in length?

My membership is due for renewing early next month, I got a really good half price deal last year at £234 ... I had a chat with Nicola (the manager) about renewing & she's offered me it at the same price, also by paying annually they've got an offer on at the moment of 2 months free

I try to walk 4 miles a day and simply doing that, and nothing else, I have lost a stone in the last year and dropped my heart rate by about 15 bpm.

Very impressed DK well done. OH and I are off to the gym soon, normally I do a 5K run followed by a 3K viper work out and then 30 mins on the power plates to really make those wobbly bits wobble even more :D

Have to say I always feel like I don't want to go and could quite easily park my backside on the sofa but once I have been I always feels so much better for it.

We have a front garden which looks out onto a meadow and a hillside - so we have absolutely no excuse for not going out for a walk. We do nice walks along a riverside as well.

Currently being a wimp and waiting for the golf course to dry out!!!

I frequently stretch out my right arm to operate a mouse to navigate round this site. Does that count?

I'm with you Shiney Old Chap, though I do drag myself round a golf course most Sundays.

Darknightie, all this is going to do is turn you from an unfit ugly bloke into a slightly less unfit ugly bloke.

DK. When I joined a local DW Sports gym and pool a few years ago I only planned on using the pool. I decided to do the free induction in the gym itself, and grew to actually prefer the machines (including the weights machines - though I never got to like free weights).

Wina has just reminded me...it was JJB at the time. I got a good deal when they first opened, but cancelled after a couple of years due to the price increasing by a large amount and the fact that I wasn't getting enough free time at lunchtime at work to go often enough to justify the cost.

I refused to pay to join a gym because I wouldn't use the free facilities in the Royal Air Farc... Force, Royal Air FORCE, but ended up joining one a few years ago. It was a real treat to me use the saunas and jacuzzi after a 3-4 mile walk on the treadmill. If it was a blue moon, I'd use the weights and, on a green moon, I'd use the stepping machine and/or the rower. But when they decommissioned the jacuzzi, I left. I reasoned that, if all I'm doing is using the treadmill, I can go for a walk for free. I soon saw sense ( ;) ) and rarely do even that these days - I've got a long, steep hill to climb to get to work now, that's more than enough!

Ooooh you are naughty - but I like you  trust me Romig it isn't a pretty sight, once I finish and step off the bits keep a wobbling, most unattractive, - still if it gets me into my cruise dresses I can't complain. Back up again for another wobble tomorrow ;)

How is the swimming coming along DK?

I am well and truly into my get fit but more importantly get into my cruise dresses routine. Have been to the gym today and have got the next week off, so regular trips are planned not only for the next week but OH and I have decided that there will be regular visits every week - NO excuses. Have also been thinking about having another go at the London Marathon next year and eldest son has decided that he would like to have a go to so fingers crossed that we can both get in. :D :D
