It is within two of those that we have our timeshares. All the facilities of the 5* hotel but our own self catering facilities (should we so wish, which we don't often, other than for breakfast!) and a lot more space in the apartments than the hotel rooms.Manoverboard wrote:The ' Pestana Group ' are of course reputable and own 5* Hotels on the Island ( of Madeira ).....

Sounds like a good plan, very nice location for one's breakfast ... or so we thoughtMervyn and Trish wrote:It is within two of those that we have our timeshares. Having paid my money and filled in countless forms I am now 'in quarantine' for the cooling off period. Meanwhile everybody else is booking up all my choices of apartment. Does somebody know something?

Don't worry Foxy. Once you're in the system you'll soon become familiar with the places which book early and those you can leave till last minute. We've just booked an apartment we liked the look of at Merlewood for 2016. Hope that wasn't one you wanted!

We have been inundated for years with mailings from HPB, after just an initial enquiry. Hope that it's not a case of, if it seems to be too good to be true, then it probably is. Caveat emptor!oldbluefox wrote:Having paid my money and filled in countless forms I am now 'in quarantine' for the cooling off period. Be assured from our experience Wolfie, it's as good as it looks but, as I said before it doesn't suit everyone.

Re: Holiday Property Bond
Spot on Mervyn. We are very confident we will make good use of HPB and know enough people who enjoy it, including your good self. As I see it at the moment I will get more benefit from my investment in the holidays I can take than the money sitting in the bank accruing minimal interest. At least this investment will be working for me. I'd rather be sitting in a rather well appointed apartment in a lovely part of this country or overseas than sat at home looking at static figures in a bank book.
Thanks for the offer OL. How's about parking your tin can in the grounds, I'll find somewhere for your Transit van and hopefully you will manage to find some brisk business selling lucky heather or doing a bit of tarmac work. I feel sure Mervyn will put in a good word for you.

Re: Holiday Property Bond
As you get older it is nice knowing the holiday you are going on is what you want and where you want. It is still nice to go to new places but with timeshare and with these bonds it helps knowing you will be getting quality accomadation.
I hadn't heard of the Pestana group until I read theses comments and strangely I received e mail yesterday offering us the chance to try Madeira next year ( at reduced Diamond Resorts points ) as the group are now affiliated to them.
Like others the money we spent was recouped many years ago.
