Unread post by Onelife »

The greatest NH jockey to sit on a horse retires today. His final two mounts run at Sandown this afternoon and will be cheered home by every racing enthusiast around the world.

A.P McCoy...A man who could make horses that shouldn't have won win.

The greatest!!

My 92 year old mother is a big fan of A.P. McCoy - she follows all the racing - wouldn't dream of calling on her or phoning while it's on - Do Not Disturb

I have no doubt she will be glued to the tv this afternoon and I will hear all about it tomorrow :sarcasm:

Hi Jan,

Your mother sounds like an amazing lady with an impeccable taste in sport.

I was listening to Derick Thompson the other day interviewing a 104 year old racing enthusiast......when asked what he enjoys about racing the old Gentleman said ...'Although l can't see the horses racing anymore due to my failing eyesight l still love the atmosphere that you get when coming racing'.

I wish him and your mother many more years of this fantastic sport.

Regards

Keith

I dont think A P really wanted to retire, but he knew it was the sensible thing to do given the dangers in the sport. I hope someone finds him somethng where he can contribute to the sport. Not that he needs the money.

I expect it won't be long until he becomes a racing pundit. What odds are you offering on that OL?

Hi Frank,

I think you would agree with me that AP has earnt every penny of his multi million pound fortune....especially considering what he has put his body through....

Cracked eye socket
Broken cheekbones
Broken wrist and thumb and fingers
Broken leg (Tibia/Fibia
Broken ankle
Chipped teeth & 10 lost teeth
Multiple collarbone breaks
Punctured lung
Multiple broken ribs
2 broken shoulder blades
Broken vertebrae (plated)
Broken forearm

Hopfully it won't be too long before its 'Sir' AP McCoy

Regards

Hi Foxy,

I'm sure he will put in the odd apperance but can't see him in that roll long term.

I wouldn't be surprised if he joined forces with trainer Jonjo O'neill....he'll be needing to do something competitive for sure.

Regards

Keith
