All is now clear,
This explains what has been going on.

She is NOT for sale ( we'll certainly not through this method) This is purely a broker trying to find a buyer for her even though she is not for sale. Basically they are a third party broker that will try to find a buyer for vessels that are not for sale. If they can find a buyer who is willing to pay then they contact the owner and if a deal goes through they take a cut. It's common practice. This is very common in the ferry industry. Most of the Brittany ferries fleet has appeared on these websites but they were never for sale. If Carnival were to dispose of her then it would be done behind closed doors and not through a broker like this. Also ship ownership can be a very complicated thing.

I have said that she will last until 2019/2020 and this may be backed up by this from Carnival.

March 2015: Carnival Corp & plc is ordering a total of nine cruise ships, five from Fincantieri and four from Meyer Werft. The new ships would be delivered over a four-year period between 2019 and 2022. Fincantieri will build five of the new vessels at its shipyards in Monfalcone and Marghera in Italy while Meyer Werft will construct the remaining four at both its German yard at Papenburg and its new and larger capacity Finnish yard at Turku.

Dai, A 9 ship order by Carnival is fairly small for the largest cruise ship group and may not include any new one for P&O, the group includes Aida, Costa, Hal, Seabourne, Princess as well as Carnival itself, and if P&O cannot profitably fill all their current ships they may well need to reduce their numbers and Oriana will at the top of their list.

sorry towny44 I realise you are only trying to wind people up as you are such a lover of the big boats I think you can see from the response you have had in reply that its not working.

Generally no winding is necessary on this forum!
You are right though Graham that we prefer newer bigger boats, that's because we require better accessible facilities and more onboard features so the ship becomes our resort. But I have no problem with people preferring the older, smaller and more traditional ships, and I am not trying to wind anyone up but just stating the obvious options from my perspective.

There is no evidence at all of P&O not being able to fill its ships. Not any more or less than any other company. Some of the Celebrity deals I find astounding. All the figures point to cruising continuing to grow from the UK.

Personally I am just as happy with Oriana sized ships as Britannia sized. I feel however that to keep the balance as P&O have now is important a range of ships at a range of sizes. It provides choice. Apart from Adonia we will travel on all the ships. We have 5 of them booked.

HAL have 2 ships coming at about 2600 passengers which would fit being between the very large ones and the Adonia size.

Prediction by 2020 Oriana to go and one Brittania class and one extended Arcadia class to be built to replace her. With Aurora and Oceana replaced 3/4 years later.

Oriana will be 25 years old by 2020 so I'd certainly be surprised if she lasts beyond then in the P&O fleet. But my prediction is when she does go it'll be to a fleet far enough away to avoid the risk of passengers following the ship. I doubt she'll be popping up in the Saga, Fred Olsen or Thomson fleet anytime soon.

BTW that means you can not buy her either. 8-)

I know nothing about football, John, but if the agents do the same thing as you say, then, yes.
