I would love to vote "None of the Above" but I feel the need to exercise my mandate. How do I decide between blue and purple though ?

Vote UKIP and cry in your beer when Labour take power.

We are in such a safe seat that I can vote with my heart if I so decide, without actually affecting the result

Great - my OH has just been to vote - before he goes to work - I'm going in a minute...

He has proxy votes for 2 friends...

the chap in the polling station had no idea what to do!

Luckily their names had 'P' by them, which OH pointed out. He's voted on their behalf, just hope all was ok.

After all the Tower Hamlets kerfuffle, one would gave thought that the Polling Station staff would be properly prepared!

when I went I discovered one of the clerks is the priest of the church which owns the hall - so will he be able to put undue pressure on his congregation? (and no it's not the church we go to...)

We sent in our postal votes a few days ago so none of the antics of the last few days have made any difference to our decision. Shame Sreaming Lord Sutch no longer stands. He'd have a good chance these days!

The only result I am pleased about is that Ed Balls, Shadow Chancellor, has gone. Sorry, if you cannot admit it was your policies that caused some of the problems we are in then you have no right to be trusted.

I think the garrulous SNP declarations of running the economy with Labour, of ruling England etc did the Tories a big favour. English people as a whole are not given to those kinds of statements about themselves or others and I am sure myself that tactical voting to stop both Ed Milliband and the SNP was a factor. We can now sit back and watch the knives of the Tory far rght being sharpened to go for David Cameron and the one nation Tories, as they did in John Major's Tory government. They are living in cloud cuckoo land because there is a solid centreist quiet majority, and the right wing Labour people and the Left wing Tories represent that centreist viewpoint.

Not sure about the stance of the SNP. They have 56 or so seats at Westminster but their leader has not been elected to Westminster. I would have thought that the aim of the SNP was independence but in that case presumably the 50 odd MPs would be marginalised and left only with their parachute payment. It will be interesting how it pans out in regards to future funding and future investment and start up of international companies north of the border.

I thought it a bit of a poor show that Farage did not applaud once while the results of the Thanet South poll were read out. Even though many of the candidates were "joke" stances, all the others clapped when each result was announced.

I wonder how long it will be before some cynic (usually a member of the runner-up party) complains that the Conservatives cannot legitimately say they won the majority when they only got 36.8% of the vote, meaning that 63.2% of the electorate voted against them? What such commentators always overlook is that, while it's a fair statement, 69.4% voted against the runner-up.

I think that whoever came up with the algorithm for the "exit poll" on the BBC last night should use it for the next election and cut out the six months+ of "argy bargy" that goes on and just use that as the result
