Microsoft Sharepoint- a warning
Here at the office, we have been putting all our data onto the "cloud" so that we can all get at it and not have to worry about back-up procedures, which are dealt with by our out-sourced IT company.
Yesterday, one of my colleagues went to one of the folders to get some saved photographs for the annual report and was surprised to find it empty. According to the fold properties, I had "amended" it on Tuesday (I hadn't even been in that area that day). She reported this to our IT folk, who are surprised that I am supposed to have "amended" because the transaction log shows that another colleague deleted everything the previous week - on a day when he wasn't in the office!!
Clearly Sharepoint cannot be relied on, so if you are saving your stuff on a remote server, please ensure you have also backed it up to a local hard drive.

The IT people say they can retrieve - haven't had confirmation from my colleague that they've done it. It's not the end of the world if this particular folder is lost, it was populated by copies of pictures from other sources, so we can re-create if necessary.

Some years ago our system (which at the time did NOT have remote access) was claiming I had done something at a time when I was at sea on a cruise!
