No Ray as opposed to a sensible new labour politician who realises that it is big business that helps to swell the tax earnings and sensibly grow the economy, rather than one who wants to bring central govt. dictats into every aspect of business life.Ray Scully wrote:as opposed to a right wing, big business backed, nationalistic, class conscience bigotstowny44 wrote:I just hope they choose another left wing, union backed, marxist socialist, class conscious bigot as their leader, in that way they have no hope of ever winning the next election.

Re: The General Election
Me thinks that is exactly the plan so that when Labour regain those seats, as they surely will in due course, there will be significantly less of them.Ray Scully wrote:As for our Scottish friends, if the Tories decided to stuff them, i.e reviewing the Barnet formula and bringing their constituencies in line with the UK, they will then know what fools gold looks like.
How will they do it ... simple, by offering the Scottish Parliament legal powers to raise their own Taxes.
The same deal could be offered to Wales and Northern Ireland which in turn will secure massive savings regarding benefit payments in those regions ... all to the advantage of us English types of course
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Just been watching Chuka Umunna on the Anrew Marr show. I've thought for a while that he's a future leader of the Labour Party. He's articulate, intelligent and presents himself very well.

Just a pity that he has the same "chip on his shoulder" about everything that the Tories do is wrong and the only possible way forward is Labour's, as Millichip has/had.Romig1 wrote:He's articulate, intelligent and presents himself very well.

That will probably appeal to the party members, and most of the MPs!david63 wrote:Just a pity that he has the same "chip on his shoulder" about everything that the Tories do is wrong and the only possible way forward is Labour's, as Millichip has/had.Romig1 wrote:He's articulate, intelligent and presents himself very well.

Re: The General Election
It might appeal to the diehard core labour members, but fortunately it does not appeal to many of the floating voters. But I agree with you Romig that Chukka does present himself well on TV, if he does put himself forward maybe we will find out just what his policies would be.Romig1 wrote:That will probably appeal to the party members, and most of the MPs!david63 wrote:Just a pity that he has the same "chip on his shoulder" about everything that the Tories do is wrong and the only possible way forward is Labour's, as Millichip has/had.Romig1 wrote:He's articulate, intelligent and presents himself very well.

Re: The General Election
...well that's according to his Wiki page I looked at earlier. There's an interesting comment on there that 50% of Labour members will leave the party if he becomes leader. The comment will disappear before long though I would imagine.

Hi Ray,
The bookies have him at 12/1 to become the next labour leader which in betting terms doesn't bode well for his chances...that being said l have just read an artical published by the New Statesman magazine about him and can see why you think so highly of him.
Regards
