Car Recalls for Toyota, Nissan and Honda

Unread post by Manoverboard »

On the BBC breakfast News this morning there was a report about air bag problems on some cars, specifically Toyota, Nissan and Honda. Cars built between 2002 and 2009 ' may ' be affected.

Locate the manufacturers website and its ' checker ' and then, by registration number, find out if your car needs to be recalled or not .... was the advice given.

Good luck.

Not diminishing any car recall the problem with that advice is that whilst you may find that a particular vehicle will have a recall at some point all that happens is that owners then start calling the dealer who cannot do anything until "all the wheels are in place" - especially the owner receiving a recall notice via DVLC.

This was mentioned on BBC breakfast yesterday. OK, it's a problem, but recalls happen all the time. It's only making the news because of the size of it. If you haven't already had a letter from the maker/dealer and you think your vehicle is affected, first check online @ https://www.gov.uk/check-if-a-vehicle-has-been-recalled and then give you local dealer a call for further information.

Don't cry Moby. I know you were

Yes, I had a look on the link to see if any recalls had slipped through net with our car, but it seems to be fine. :D

Thanks Mob...Just been in touch with Toyota as their website 'recall checker' was down.

My car is due to be recalled and Toyota will be notifying those affected directly over the next few weeks.

Cheers

No problem my friend ... although if I remember correctly it would seem most unlikely that you would actually need an bag in the event of a collision

I've got a 2003 Toyota Yaris that I've had since new, and it's already been recalled twice.

No doubt they'll get in touch if I'm affected, but as I've ordered a new car, to be delivered at the end of June, I wouldn't be in a rush to do the recall

There used to be a great independent website that kept track of recalls on just about everything ... I came across it a few years back but it has been shut down now .. great shame. I got several items in the house fixed that would have otherwise had to be replaced.
