Butlins

A couple of years ago we took our 3 eldest grandsons away for a week in a "super deluxe motor home"
My hubby loved it....whilst we had fun with the boys.. I didnt want to repeat it. I wanted proper beds...that you didnt have to move every morning...etc.

So we discussed a static caravan...Center Parc..or Butlins...

Butlins won....in Skegness.

We have got Gold accommodation... 3 bedrooms..ground floor... with a maid to make the beds and clean up.. Premier food package and booked "extras".
Lots of football..swimming..shows etc...the boys will have a great time. (5,5 and 7)
Hubby cant wait...hmmm
However they do have a Spa.....

The last time I was at a Butlins (early 1990s) you could buy T shirts with the logo "Butlitz Camp escape comittee" I have yet to see a maritime equivalent of these either on a ship or dockside 'tat' stalls.

The "after Butlins" review might take a little while to write...
We get back on friday night...dropping boys off at their homes.. then back to ours to drink the wine rack dry!!!

Hi Sue,

You've done the right thing in going with the gold accommodation and premier dinning package... we did the same when we went to Minehead 4 years ago.

The boys will love it, as for Mom Dad and Nana,...you'll all be needing another holiday when you get back

Butlins has changed over the years and the introduction of better accommodation and nicer places to eat have added to the experience...however things can get a little expensive if you allow the children to go on the pay as you go attractions, which, I have to say, seems to be the way butlins are heading.... nevertheless all the water park facilities are free, as are the fun fair rides. Sue a funny thing has just happened while I'm typing this...I've just had the Skydome theme tune pop into my head..'at the Sky dome, sky-dome'

I'm sure you will all have a fantastic time...Btw...I've heard its a bit like being on the Britannia

On a personal note Butlins Skegness always brings back good and bad memories for me as it was there that my father died aged 47

My brother and sil took their granddaughter earlier this year she had a wonderful time ( she's 7 ) so much so that a couple of weeks ago my sil took her again with a friend and her granddaughter.

Ahhh Skeggie takes me back to my youth ( just for Stephen that's about 10 years ago ) I had some great weekends there and there was some very good night life, oh to be able to dance the night away as I used to .. it's hard once you turn 30

Hi Keith, mam and dad are not going...just nana and grandad..lol when we get back we will be locking the doors and seeing no one over the weekend...

We have bought extra passes for the pay as you go stuff...if you got it online it was a better deal.

We've been to Minehead three times (basic chalet, deluxe chalet [same as basic but with a TV], and own caravan), Ayr (static caravan) and Pwhelli (deluxe chalet). The last time was about 18 years ago.

I'd always though Butlins was one great funfair - none of them had much in the way of fairground rides. All the buildings looked run down. Facilities were basic, to say the least.

I hope it's improved since then.

The main thing is that the kids won't notice these things and they should enjoy it.
