Is FIFA fit for purpose?

Unread post by towny44 »

Should FIFA be abandoned and a new World body set up to administer the "Beautiful Game".
This new body to have a voting structure based on the size and scale of the professional and amateur game in each country, and its proportion to its population.
In this way the major footballing countries should attain a high proportion of the voting rights, and it would therefore be far more difficult for any future administrator to manipulate the vote in the way that appears to have been the case with the current administration of FIFA.

It certainly needs to be restructured to ensure there are checks, balances, transparency plus accountability etc for all major decisions and moneys spent. Also a restriction regarding the maximum term of office for all senior positions and a meaningful election to prevent megalomaniacs reaching high office in the future.

There are plenty in the game who have a greater knowledge of FIFA than me so let them decide, I think they will be glad to get all the corruption out in the open and to be able to start afresh. ( fingers crossed )

If we can't trust the governments and financial institutions of the world, how can can we trust a football governing body whatever format it's in.
There is a lot of pressure from sponsors to stage the tournaments at venues that give them the best return for their money.
Wherever there is money involved there is the chance of corruption.
FIFA's motto"Fair Play" mmmm!!

Advertised or otherwise, its purpose appears to be 'lining pockets', and it seems to have been very good at that!
