Got to love the Meerkats

Unread post by Dark Knight »

We have just come to the end of our first fixed term deal on our mortgage and it was also time to renew the house insurance and contents cover, so after spending 30 minutes chatting to the little furry buggers, I have saved just short of £2000 a year on my mortgage and Home and Contents insurance, combined

not bad for 30 minutes work and I got a free Meerkat, which will be destroyed in seconds by our Jack Russell. Lucy ;-)

Towny
the reduction is due to the much lower interest rates and the competition for customers, I suspect?
the banks are offering some very low rate deals just now, so it was a good time to change.
we have also increased the contents insurance quite substantially , so a reduction was a bonus

Just shows that it pays to shop around , I suppose ;-)

I suppose mortgage companies and insurance companies rely on people not bothering to shop around whilst boosting their own profits. It always amuses me how you get a good deal on your insurance for the first year and then it is substantially hiked up for the renewal. Take a few minutes looking around, get a cheaper quote and then ring them back saying you are leaving them. Suddenly they can come back with a better offer. It works every time except with nPower who don't care less. I'm still with OVO who have just reduced my monthly direct debits. It does pay to look around since you get nothing for loyalty nowadays, except ripped off.

Good for you DK. The pounds are happier in your pocket than theirs!!!

Churchill are the same - they offered to get me cheaper quote which was still much higher than the cheapest I'd had. I told another insurer that if they were able to offer a lower price, they should have done so with the renewal letter, not wait for me to challenge it.

Keep it in the box and put it away for at least ten years then see how much it is worth.

Better still... put the Jack Russell in a dark box for an hour and see how much it loves you when you let it out ;)

When the advert first came outit amused both me and my Marketing students. Unfortunately it now drives me mad1 I much prefer watching my alter ego strut hid stuff for moneysupermarket.com.

I always use the Meerkats. They can take ages to arrive but we have Yakov, Alexandr, Oleg and we are waiting for Sergei. DK you can track Postkat on the website to see where yours has got to.
