Some of you may remember the new addition to the family last year when we got Freddie after we lost Millie our black and white cat.
Sadly Freddie our all black cat of only 14 months old was killed by a vehicle last night. Such a shame to lose a pet at any time, but one so young makes it all the harder. Devastating.
That's it now, we still have Monty the brother that was to Millie but will not be getting any more cats while we are living here. The heart just can't take it
So sorry to hear such sad news Stephen. Animal lovers everywhere who have lost beloved pets will all understand what you're going through. Some years ago we lost little Freya, just 16 months, then we got little one-eyed tabby Ruby, and couldn't believe it when she was also killed at just 13 months. We don't live particularly near to a main road but Freya had roamed a long way from home (we had no idea she travelled so far) and Ruby was killed on our estate. She never wandered far. Not long ago I witnessed a cat hit by a car on our estate, I was waiting to turn out of a road and a black cat just appeared from nowhere, the car that was travelling at no more than 30 mph didn't stand a chance of avoiding it. The cat went under the wheel and dragged itself up onto the pavement and into a bush. Luckily I'd seen where it went, otherwise it would probably have died under that thick bush and never been found. I rang my husband to bring the cat basket, we managed to get it out and took it to the vet, it had a broken pelvis. I don 't know if it was ok as the owners never contacted me, even though I left my number with the vet. I didn't want thanks, just to know if the cat was ok. The thing about cats is, they just run - they don't know what a road is. It's often the young ones, older ones seem to develop a bit of road sense.

That's very sad, it's awful when you lose a pet. I love cats but won't have them any more because 2 of ours were killed on the road. However they do seem to develop a bit of road sense as they get older because our neighbour has a lovely old tabby that watches out for cars before crossing the road.
As SS says, there's no need to bottle it up. I worked with a very large, tattooed, skinhead type and he cried like a baby the day after his pet dog died.
So it really is ok to let it out if you feel the need
Sorry to hear your sad news Stephen. Much as I dislike the b****y things coming after my birds and doing unmentionables in my garden I know how much you become attached to them as pets.
