Calm me down - pleeeaassseeeee!
I have been remarkably calm throughout the planning of our daughter's wedding - which, I might add, is MOST unusual for me - until today! With three days to go, I am suddenly overcome with stress and anxiety about it - and for no real reason, since everything is going extremely well.
The marquee (Bedouin tent) and cake arrive tomorrow and the caterer is coming on Friday, to ensure all the hire equipment arrives as ordered, but apart from that everything is done.
So why am I in bits? And how can I banish this hysteria?

Gill, I was exactly the same....everything was sorted and no problems but panic set in big time.GillD46 wrote:I have been remarkably calm throughout the planning of our daughter's wedding - which, I might add, is MOST unusual for me - until today! I kept questioning myself...have I done things as well as I could..will she be happy with it all...did she really like the bouquets and flowers I made..should I have let her buy the £7,000 dress???
Im sure it will be amazing..and it will be over in a flash...
So enjoy it big time !!! Precious memories.
Then afterwards ..you will start again... I SHOULD have done this and that...lolol

Glad I'm a bloke
We shoulder shrug and ask where the drinks are
I honestly don't see what the fuss is all about.
It starts off a two people making a commitmet to each others and ends up a bit like a circus.
It must be a woman thing.

We have those feelings when it feels so important .
When we try very hard and our expectations are high . We feel insecure .
The fact that you are concerned is probably because you have time to dwell .
Do something else that you enjoy .
The less you worry the more wonderful it will be.

Gill - I think it'd be more worrying if you weren't worrying - if you see what I mean.
A bit like actors going on stage. nerves means you're doing your best.
Letting rip in here'll help - so keep doing that. If you do it at home the others will either murder you or start flapping as well - not sure which option would be worse.
We can be more objective

Re: Calm me down - pleeeaassseeeee!
Men will never understand ! I've helped to plan 2 daughters weddings, one of them almost single handed as said daughter lived 200 miles away and wanted to get married in her childhood home town. It is a huge stress and well done for getting this far without falling apart ! I had multiple panics on the way to my daughters weddings. It sounds like everything is organised so all you can do now is pray for good weather and have a few glasses of wine. Really what does it matter if there are a few problems ? we had our fair share , not least arriving at the venue for my first daughters wedding to find that 20 caravans had arrived overnight to park in the grounds of the beautiful stately home we had hired , thinking we had exclusive use of the grounds too ! Our daughter just laughed it off although I had thought she would be devastated. Whatever happens it's all about the couple and as long as they are happy it's all fine.

And what are the others having?
The Lady C was just the same in the run-up to Welshie's nuptials, so you're not alone in feeling that way.

Arrrggghhhh - and now the mother iof the groom, in whose extensive gardens we are having the wedding, has been called urgently to her 99 year old mother who has been admitted to intensive care - in Bergen!
She plans to fly out today and fly back Friday afternoon - hopefully! Fortunately, all the arranging has been left to me anyway, but now I have to use her home without her being there - slightly awkward, but hey ho!
Hopefully this will be the only major glitch.

Re: Calm me down - pleeeaassseeeee!
From past posts last year some of you may remember that my daughter got engaged in Venice. Well at Christmas lunch, they boldly announced that they were going to get married this year, May or June time.
Well with all my wee health problems, Lady Macbeth decided that what we should do was to pay them to go back to Italy to get married on the condition that they organised it themselves.
With the exception of the mother and daughter thing, which appears to be inevitable, this they did. They arranged all their own wedding in Malcesine on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, an hour north of Verona. We have friends there who own “Ristorante al Gondoliere” in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele and we also have an apartment there at the top of Via Paina, so it made it a bit easier for them.
The whole wedding party dinned the night before at Al Gondoliere. Lorain and Stuart were married on the upper terrace of Castello Scaligero. Lunch was served in “Risorante Numero Otto”. The guests were then taken on an hours champagne cruise on the Lake and this was followed by the wedding breakfast in the “Hotel Prima Luna”.
Twenty-six friends and relations made the journey for what turned out to be a fantastic wedding. I would recommend this format to everyone.
For anyone interested this is a link to some photos of the event and our apartment in Malcesine.

Yes OBF, He was from the Verona Academy of Music, as was the harpist. However, his pipe music was a mixture of Italian Alpine and Basque. A wee bit weird to say the least but as my Italian friend had organised it, we all thought it was great.
