How about Illustrious is converted and sails on cruise itineraries out of Hull periodically?

It would add a new dimension to fly cruises.

Some years ago, my B-I-L (who is a mad ship-spotter) had his "collar felt" by the local L'pool plod when taking photos of the ferry to Ireland. Guess they thought he was a potential terrorist. Boy, have we laughed about that over the years!

Really? Blimey I've taken photos of all sorts of ships on the Mersey and never had an issue. Does your BIL look a bit shifty?

Why can't they leave her as she is? I'm sure the chance to look over a mothballed carrier would be a great attraction - the Intrepid in New York is used in such a way.

That explains it. I was interrogated more times than I care to remember when flying over to Northern Ireland to see my friends there!

I used to fly a lot in and out of Belfast (not so much these days) and despite there being a group of us it was always me that they stopped. I once asked why and it appears the main reason was because I had facial hair ... I am not suggesting that this could be your problem though

Definitely not my problem Ken I always assumed it was because my maiden name was Irish, either that or they were after chatting me up!
