£10!!!..Scandalous. I'd want a suit to go with them, a night out and a taxi home for that.

I know what you mean foxy...like you I've never been a scarves and handbags man myself which I may say is contrary to what one person would have you believe on this site. :o

I actually think table top sale cheapen the cruise experience. I certainly don't (under my breath) think I should have to be thinking 'get out of my dam way' on my way down to dinner

However if any of my lovely ladies use them, then I think they are a great asset to one's cruise experience.

I think that covers all options..squeak! Squeak!

I find this a latter day rip off and as such never frequent these establishments.

I find the thought of a load of Teddy boys hanging round a coffee bar for hours and hours, far more challenging than the thought of today's cafe society coffee outlets.

It's the language of coffee I struggle with. Why can't they sell small, medium and large? The sizes have different daft names in every shop. How can small be tall?
Our local Kebabbery sells medium and large kebabs. They don't do a small one, so how do they know how big a medium one is? :?

Before I retired there was a Tesco store with a cafe that I frequented on my travels round the county, there were two young girls running it who really looked after me with my dietary condition. On occasions they would come to me and say they have spotted something new that was gluten free and they would prepare it for me.
One day I went in there and the two girls appeared upset, asking what the matter was they told me that the cafe was shutting down to make way for a Costa (Fortune) Coffee bar and they had not been offered a job when it opened.
Bang went my lovely hot lunches and efficient friendly service to make way for a slow mundane service and all they could offer me was a pre-packed flapjack. They asked me if I wanted to take a loyalty card to which I replied no because I won't be returning.

Did I find this challenging ? too bloody right.

Fond memories of Lil's Cafe on the Chilwell bypass where we would spend our nights in the late 50's early 60's drnking coffee and listening to the jukebox which was often put on free play.

Got to agree with Keetchy if they only sell two sizes one is larger one is smaller, you can only have medium if the choice is more than two surely.

We called in at a Tesco in Hexham on our way to Newcastle only to discover it had been taken over by Coostalot. Not impressed by what we got at an extortionate price.
By comparison you can go into a little cafe in Workington (Butterflies) where you get friendly, attentive service, a good cup of coffee and a huge wedge of cake for a fraction of the price.
In future it's off to the little coffee shops for me.

Why don't they just do regular and large if they only do two?

I fear no-one likes to admit they sell anything small! So small is medium, regular, tall, primo or whatever.

Trish likes a small coffee and the number of times we've asked for that to be corrected and told we don't have small. One day I'm tempted to say "Well sorry to have troubled you, we were looking for small so we'll go elsewhere".

Of course the brighter waiters/baristas of whatever just give us the smallest they have without giving us a lesson in coffee lingo.

small indicates less value for money, so a medium or large meal.coffee.kebab or john Thomas equals a much better deal :-)

Unless you only want a small one in which case anything more expensive, even if it is gargantuan, is a waste of money if you can't drink it all. :sarcasm:

Anyway I'm sure Lady Dark has reassured you that size isn't everything.... just saying

I can only conclude it must be a generational thing, I have no problem navigating a coffee shops menu and ordering and receiving my desired beverage
perhaps the baby boomer generation should stick to tea shops ?

Since all they serve is weak milky coffee like my grandmother used to make that's exactly what I have done. You can keep your Costalots and your Starbucks.
