Actually I often do just that .... order a double espresso, finished in ' flat white ' albeit Crown rather than Dulux.

They're all girlie with their fancy names! Why don't they speek proper english like wot i do with their muffins and lattes!!! Where I go we call them cakes, coffee and buns and you get bacon butties and pies. Now that's proper man's grub!!! And whoever invented a skinny latte wants stringing up and shooting. As if they're not tasteless enough already.Manoverboard wrote:That's cos you order a GIRLIE ' latte '.... try a ' flat white ', that's a MANS drink.oldbluefox wrote:... all they serve is weak milky coffee like my grandmother used to make ...

If you have to pay for an extra shot of coffee in order to taste it, the coffee can't be up to much.
(What's wrong with having a coffee when you get home at a fraction of the price anyway?)

Wonderful to meet another tightwad after my own heart.oldbluefox wrote:(What's wrong with having a coffee when you get home at a fraction of the price anyway?)
I'm happy to go for coffee when away from our nearby town but, as we live less than 10 minutes walk from our local town, it seems madness to waste money on a coffee when it only takes minutes to get home. Hubby thinks I'm a tightwad as well. Mind you, I'm happy for him to have a coffee if I'm wandering around M&S just to have a bit of peace and being able to concentrate on that very important pastime of clothes shopping.

No problem at all unless we happen to be stood outside ' Costa ' in Oxford when one's coffee machine is umpteen miles away in Darzetoldbluefox wrote:... What's wrong with having a coffee when you get home at a fraction of the price anyway?)

Well we're about to wander off into town where no doubt we'll have a cissy latte. They only do one size at our local restaurant so no mucking about with tall, regular, primo, bonio, medio, pluto or whatever. And it's buy five get one free and today's my lucky day. Then it's back home to shed building.

Shame on you all, and they call us Scots mean

Sometimes we wait until we get home for a coffee, sometimes we take a flask and other times we go to a coffee place.
Just depends how we feel really.
But we rarely go to pubs, we prefer going out for a coffee instead

I too used to frequent coffee bars for the juke box and the girls. Now a Carte Noir Decaff latte made at home with semi skimmed knocks the spots off anything in Starbucks or Costa, and that has nothing to do with the price. My 11.00 treat!
