Send the jobs up north barney. I feel sure there will be plenty of takers. As for the Northern Powerhouse, that seems to be stumbling before it's got off the ground so I'll believe that when I see it. As it is the government seem to think the north stops at Manchester and Leeds. The rest are forgotten until election time.
As for Hull. The last time we were there we had arrived early for a ferry crossing so we decided to have a walk around Hull. It was totally depressing so I feel sure the extra income from a cruise terminal would be very welcome.
Sorry Mavis and DK. With the best will in the world its mother couldn't describe Hull as attractive but I would be very happy to cruise out of there and save the long trek darn sarf.

There's plenty of people willing to cruise out. It's the cruising back in that's so depressing.oldbluefox wrote:I would be very happy to cruise out of there and save the long trek darn sarf.
But we'd consider 'Ull for a northbound cruise if the ship, itinerary and price were right.

Pre- cruise stay in Gotham Towers Batty?
You may have something there !
I reckon that the port of Hull should do it's bit and take all of the blo*dy lorries that have been stacking up here in Kent for the last month.
It's been a nightmare. You know the area so imagine the M20 being closed between
J7 at Holingbourne all the way to J11 at the Tunnel.
All other traffic being diverted on the the A20 & A2
The poor folk of Lenham could barely get out for a fortnight
BTW it's on again today due to French burning tyres in the entrance road
Obviously no fire service or police in France!!!!!
I think it's their revenge for Britain not taking the 6,000+ illegals currently camped in Calais

Hold on a minute,
you all forget our Invergordon deep sea port and Inverness airport, which can accommodate the largest aircraft. We can even come to an agreement to allow all those "Sooth Moothers",
sorry English, continued access without visas!! and its on the right side for exploring Scandinavia without any requirement for a sea day.

The immortal words of John McEnroe come to mind. Anyhow, in order to forget something, you have to have known about it in the first place!
True it is near Norway, but the nearer it is to there, the further away it is from anywhere else! I live North of Hadrian's Wall - way north of most of the others on this group - but even for me, Invergordon is so far north that it's damn near as far away as Southampton: - just in the opposite direction. If you live anywhere south of Penrith, Southampton is actually closer.

Judging by the number of kilts I see on formal nights, it might still be viable to use Invergordon

Have you driven up the A9 north of Perth recently? Fancy doing it in February to get to Inverness for the start of your Caribbean fly cruise?

Come on now the A9 is a great road with passing places every 50 miles or so. It will be even better when Mrs Krankie and her Cumbrian navies build the A9 dual carriageway.
