Called at Invergordon on Oriana. She couldn't get off the berth because of high winds and was about 6 hours late sailing. Pretty place though.

I spoke to someone yesterday who quite admires Mrs Krankie. And he's English. That's a bit of a shocker.
He did, however, admit he had regular visits from little green men and pleasant conversations with his pet frog and claimed to be engaged to be married to Barbie. And his medication's run out.
But back to the A9. Yes a very pleasant road in July, the only month it's actually open.

It's certainly better than it used to beITWA Travel Writer wrote:Come on now the A9 is a great road with passing places every 50 miles or so. It will be even better when Mrs Krankie and her Cumbrian navies build the A9 dual carriageway.

What's the point in spending money on the A9 if the only traffic is Old McDonald on his tractor, half a dozen sheep, a couple of heeland coos and ITWA using it?ITWA Travel Writer wrote:Come on now the A9 is a great road with passing places every 50 miles or so. Gentlemen, gentlemen, not that I drink it myself, but if you block off the A9, how will you get the single malts down south? Don't be so hasty

They can't call it whisky. They can call it whiskey, but not whisky. Apparently it is a "protected" name - a bit like Champagne or Parma ham.oldbluefox wrote:We've already thought of that and are prepared for Mrs Krankie putting up the shutters. Not sure about that Shiney. I feel sure they can't call it Scotch but isn't the difference between whisky and whiskey something to do with the distilling process. I should know by the number of distilleries I have been around but I usually get distracted by the mention of a tasting session at the end!!

That's what I was told at one of the distilleries we visited many moons ago.... they said outside of Scotland, distillers were required to put an "e" in it.

When we speak of half a dozen sheep in Scotland, we actually mean "Cumbrian Leisure Centers"
