Sad Day

Unread post by Mervyn and Trish »

Sadly we lost our beautiful dog, Meg (full name Cutel Ceres), today. We've had her for more than 12 years, since she was 8-weeks-old, and you couldn't wish for a more loyal and loving pet. She's lived with a digestive problem for some time, controlled by medication, but this week she became very unwell and tests showed she had been overwhelmed by a much more serious illness. This morning we had to say goodbye. RIP Meg x

I feel your pain Merv - losing a beloved pet is one of the worst things in the world! Try and remember the good times with her and what a wonderful life she had with you both x

So sorry to hear that Mervyn. This is one of the downsides of having pets. Sadly they are only with us for a short time but during that time it is understandable how attached their owners become to them. I expect the house will seem very empty for a while but you can rest assured she had a very comfortable, and doubtless pampered life.
Btw what a lovely photograph. I can understand why you are upset.

That is so heartbreaking, Merv and Trish. We said no more pets after we had to make the awful decision to have Ben, our cocker spaniel, put to sleep. It was like losing a close member of our family.

You have my sympathies Merv. I know exactly how you and Trish must be feeling.
Yes, a lovely photo, and one of many you will cherish along with memories of happier times with Meg.

This is the very reason why Lady Macbeth and I decided not to replace our last dog. They very quickly integrate into the family and when their lives end it is a family bereavement and as such difficult at times to bear.

I think it's the ears MOB which liken her to Merv.

Oh Merv and Trish I am so sorry to hear your news - heartbreaking to say goodbye to a much loved pet. My little Cairn terrier is now 14 years old and I dread anything happening to her :(

Your beautiful Meg is now at peace. We had to make the decision a few times over the years and it didn't get any better (for us), but we knew we were giving our beloved pets their dignity.

RIP Dear Meg xx

So sorry Merv, and she looked a real beauty too. A horrible time I i know.

Try to take some consolation from the memories and the lovely home you clearly gave her for those 12 years.

Thanks again all. We know it will get better. The house feels empty at the moment, which is a bit odd as there are still us two and the cat here, but despite the pain we wouldn't have missed the pleasure of the past 12 years.

We have been through the same many times and it's always heart breaking.

Our last loss was the worst as he was a rescue dog who had been ill treated and he took 2 years to know that he was finally 'at home'.

A big cyber hug to you both.
