It really annoys me when I'm in the Bank just wanting to pay a cheque in or something and the teller wants to sell me a mortgage, insurance, a new credit card, what annoys me even more is if I'm at the back of the queue and they are trying to do the same with everyone in front of me
I stopped going into the bank for just this reason. I found that a short (but not rude) "Please would you JUST process my transaction" when the spiel started usually did the trick, but of course, like you say, the people in front of you in the queue got all the sales patter too.

Before (and if) anybody moans...I do realise that they are simply doing the job they are told to do.

Its got to be people who sit in the middle lane of a motorway when the inside lane is clear making those of us who know how to use a motorway change to the outside lane to overtake them

Annoying little squirts, aren't they? They turn a 3-lane motorway into a 2-lane.

Agreed if they are doing less than the speed limit. If they are doing 70mph what difference does it make?

It makes no difference what speed you are doing, lanes 2 and 3 are for overtaking. If you are not overtaking you should be in lane 1. Satnav actually gives a more accurate reading of your speed. Tachometers on cars are anything up to 10% inaccurate so somebody doing 70mph in the middle lane may actually only be doing 64mph. Middle lane hoggers are a perishing menace and create their own traffic queues.

You mean the speedometer, surely, not the tachometer, OBF!

Another pet hate is roads coned off for long stetches with temporary traffic lights and nobody doing any work.

If you want/need/have to close any part of a road then there should be a charge of at least £1k per day, per lane, per 100m - and then we would see how quick they could get some of these jobs done

I don't mind being called by my Christian name, but I HATE it when cashiers call me 'Sweetheart' or 'Darling'. I have to bite my tongue to stop myself from muttering 'I'm not your sweetheart!' I know theyre just trying to be friendly, but it really winds me up.

Not even when it's dark... These pillocks (sorry, is that being judgmental?) don't seem to realise that they aren't required to put their lights on so they can see, it's so they can be seen.

I was walking down a road one day and a car approached at 20 mph. It was a typically foggy Lincolnshire day and the car was silver. I flagged him down and asked if he realised that, in that colour, in that weather, he was practically invisible? I only clocked him because I was walking. He got the message, thankfully.

And what is it with front foglights being on permanently? These drivers can't tell the difference between foglights and day-running lights.

Sorry, I'll get off me soapbox!

Following on from that... yesterday morning when many cars were covered in snow it was almost impossible to see the light from oncoming headlights. I also a sharper-than-ideal braking incident when I realised that the car in front of me had decided to stop in the middle of the road to pick somebody up. Of course the brake lights were completely hidden!

Speeding - speed kills - can't bear it. People who still zoom about even though it's foggy/lashing down with rain/ snowy. Those people who don't realise that they have put a headlight bulb in the wrong way - blinding ! People who finish a cig just before boarding a bus - they stink !

moving swiftly away from the smoking thing, back to lights. Sidelights, should be banned in this day and age, so many people driving about with them on in fog/snow etc when one click up you have headlights then we can all see you. The other one is the idiots that leave rear fog lights on when there is a car directly behind them or forget to turn them off so they blind you the next night. Its breaking the law so why do the police never seem to nick them for it

To be fair 'speed' does NOT kill .. it is the sickening splat and crunching of bones when the person comes in contact with something not going as fast as they are.

It's like the old joke .. what is the last thing that goes through a flies mind as it hits your windscreen ... it's butt.

I like the Volvo approach where side-lights are always on ... I am not fond though of peop-le who drive with headlights on when there is no need for it .. it is distracting to on coming traffic.

Agree with you about the fog lights .. but I thought that foglights defaulted to the 'off' position when the ignition was turned off ... in fact I thought it was an MOT failure if that was not the case.

Hi Ken, I agree about the speed thing, it all depends on the circumstances, I have driven in a straight line at speeds of over 170 mph and was not killed, I have also driven like a nutter round very tight bends at high speeds and managed not to crash or hit any other car, one on a dragstrip and one on race tracks, I have even managed 100mph on a public road, a spanish motorway where visibilty was for about a mile in front and behind with no other car in sight, it can be great fun. In UK I stick to speed limits, but if the conditions are right I may go over a bit. As for the fog lights I think it is only an mot requirement depending on the age of the car.

Best I have done on a track was touching 160mph ... on a Honda motorcycle (Cadwell Park).
I know I have done 103mph on a public road (in my wilder younger youthful days) ... because that was the speed the lovely policeman showed me on his radar :-(
Fortunately I have wised up. :-)
