Child Free flights?

According to a recent survey over 70% of passengers would like to see children banned from, 1st class, business class and have children restricted to the rear third of the plane and they also said they would happily pay more for a child free plane

I would like to say yes - please do this as have been on some awful flights with screaming kids but with grandchild no 1 on the way, I may have to just buy some ear plugs and put up with it

It depends what age group we are talking about. I've no problem with very young children anywhere on a plane if they are kept under control and occupied. You know the feeling you get when you are already seated and glance up and in the distance you spot the ankle biter and Co coming down the isle, and you just know they are going to be seated right behind you.

We've all been there with the little s*d mite behind us kicking the hell out of you seat and the parents doing nothing about it. Times like that you'd happily open the door and sling them out, and the child.

Teenagers yes, shove'm in the hold would be better.

I've basically given up on flying anyway, too much hassle, so not really affected. But no doubt the day may arrive again, but hopefully not for a loooooooong time yet.

Seems like a good idea on long haul flights, one pays a lot of money to get a decent nights sleep ... including us in Traveller / Economy Plus.

A squawking brat isn't part of the plan although babies are seldom the issue, it's those ' terrible twos '

.

ps ... we have Grandchildren and are happy to cruise on family ships.

We're taking our grandchildren on a couple of flights in September. Perhaps I should have chosen us seats at the front and put them at the back?

A hugely unpopular attitude but I feel I've done my bit.
Bred them, brought them up, educated them and managed to make decent human beings out of them.

Now please, just give me a bit of peace.

I'm aware that many absolutely live for their grandkids and they are the centre of their universe.
Well, they ain't the centre of mine.

I have been guilty of cringing when I see a child in the same cabin as us on a flight, we always upgrade to Business because of needing to lie down, so flights cost us a lot. But in recent years, the few children we have had nearby, have actually been quieter and less bother than those adults that sit at the bar the entire flight, knocking back drink after drink. That's fine on a day flight - if they don't worry about their livers - but at night it can be a real nuisense for those seated close by.

Yes Stephanie, I'll back up "Brillo". Whether children are our future or not, I agree "you all are a lot of miserable old gits". However, please ensure that there are no children on my flights.

It's rather difficult to avoid children on flights home from Orlando as they seem to all be overnighters. I'm with the "child-free" camp - many parents these days don't (won't?) keep their offspring under control.

Some Asian Airlines already offer child free flights and restrict the areas where children can be seated

As a matter of fact I'd consider myself very happy with my lot.

But ........ I can take issue with the way that many younger ones bring up their kids as opposed to the way that our folks and our generation did.

Young parents seem to want to treat their children as equals, giving them choice on so many things and asking opinions.
I've been in shops and heard adult women asking four year olds for fashion advice.
'Does this look good on mummy?' Get a grip woman, she's four. What can she know about fashion????

In a resturant, 'tell the nice lady what you want' ,
Kid squirms in his seat and says nothing
'go on, tell the lady what you want'
Kid still says nothing so nice lady moves on to next customer.
Don't blame her !!

Then there is the running around issue !!!
If you take your kids into adult venues, make them behave.
Kids running about in pubs etc is a no,no in my book.
Some would say that they are just being kids !
Rightly so, but go and be kids in the local park, not in a pub or resturant.

The main issue that I have is absolute lack of discipline and the knowlege of what is acceptable.
The amount of times I've heard a parent say No, four or five times then give in
No wonder the little blighters think they are running the show when they always get their own way.

Anyway, to set the record straight, I'm not anti kid.
Just anti kid when I'm on holiday
