Cilla Black
Just heard the sad news that Cilla Black has passed away, apparently from natural causes.
Always liked Cilla, not only as a singer/ TV host but more so because she never forgot where she started from.
RIP

That's really sad news. She was part of my youth along with all the other 60's artistes and of course this is happening more often now - none of us is getting any younger.
RIP Cilla

What a shock to hear this sad news. A lovely lady and like Onelife says, she never forgot her origins.

I felt really saddened when I read this this morning. It's a cliche I know, but Cilla really was a British institution.
RIP Cilla.
RIP Cilla.

Although I agree that it is always a shame to hear of these sad events I must disagree that she ' never forgot her origins'. I believe that she had property's in Berkshire, Barbados and Spain and hadn't lived in Liverpool for Decades like most of the other "True Scousers" who made it good along with Stars from other Cities, i'm not picking on scousers per say.! Yes it is a shame but sadly it's life.Jean W wrote:What a shock to hear this sad news. A lovely lady and like Onelife says, she never forgot her origins.

Hi Screwy,
I have no idea how much wealth Cilla has amassed over her showbiz career or how she has spent it. Neither do l know what she was like in real life but as an entertainer she always seemed to conect the with her viewing audience and that is the way many will wish to remember her.
Regards
Keith

Yes she had a villa in Barbados and one in Spain but after her husband Bobby died she was a very lonely woman, she had her villa on the Costa Del Sol not far from where my son lived when he was working in Gibraltar but she never ventured out much. I suppose it is difficult for a high profile celebrity like her to enjoy the freedom of walking out of an evening for a drink or a meal without being mobbed by fans.

I see the despicable Katie Hopkins has been at it again. By the way, watch out for ice cream vans coming round playing sweet music; it might be one of Katie's euthanasia vans....Just pray it's coming for her!
RIP Cilla.

I liked her music and her early TV shows, but could never warm to her on Blind Date or Surprise Surprise, but its sad when anyone dies too soon.

Troops I knew who had met her told of a different character to the popular image on TV but sad to see someone who has been around for so long pass away. I liked her early music.
RIP.

Re: Cilla Black
Maybe it was sad to hear for some of us as it brought back so many memories of our youth - when she was a pop singer, before all the TV presentation stuff. Hearing some of those songs that I hadn't heard for so long brought back lots of memories. I still think her recording of "Alfie" was one of the finest things she did. Those who know about these things say it is an extremely difficult song to sing and to my mind she put a lot of emotion and feeling into it. I found an old black and white film on You Tube of the actual recording of "Alfie" when Burt Bacharach came over to play on it.
