BT Sport on SKY

Unread post by Manoverboard »

I have just signed up for a SKY package, including the Sports bundle.

I am now thinking about adding BT Sport onto the same SKY platform.

To my way of thinking it should be a simple matter of contacting BT, agreeing to the provision and having them add a fiver to my bill but it looks ridiculously complicated in the BT Website and even more so within their Q&A Forums.

So .....

Does anybody out there have this facility and what is the best way of achieving it, please.

We have BT TV, and to get Sky Sports on that, you order through BT.

I would have thought that to get BT Sport on Sky, you need to contact Sky.

But then, what do I know!!!?? :?

More than me I dare say

" We have BT TV ... "

My understanding is that as a BT customer you can get BT TV for free ( via your BT Account ) but that you need to watch it via the Internet, using their own Broadband facility of course. The BT TV provision does include BT Sport plus a number of other programs but none of them are SKY specific.

" I would have thought that to get BT Sport on Sky, you need to contact Sky. "

Not according to a Sky installer / agent.

I have BT Sport channels on my TV watched through Sky - channels 413 and 417. I seem to remember going online to the BT site and following the process - you have to put in your Sky card number and I presume in your case arrange the monthly payment (I get it free because I have my telephone and broadband through BT). Have a look on the BT website - I think you'll find all the info on there.

Be very carefull Jan because BT have done a little dodgy one with the sport.

They are now offering European football on BT2 but at a fiver extra unless you opt out.

I thought it was a shady way to do business.
You should have to opt in not out
So told them to stuff it.

It's worth you checking

Also when you contract is up for renewal, if you don't renew before the date, they will charge you £6.75 for the free sport

Thanks Jan,

The inclusion of the SKY card number within the BT order makes perfect sense and explains how it may be possible to be up n running within 15 minutes ... if their adverts are to be believed. Magic

I have tried trawling their Website several times but I couldn't for the life of me get to the final display where I could actually ' place an order for ' BT Sport, it just took me round and round in circles. I did wonder if the order process sits behind the listings of their umpteen Broadband Packages, we also have BT broadband but unfortunately ours isn't listed.

ps ... it is no longer free to existing customers, hence my mention of a fiver.

BT really have increased their prices for BT Sport if you do not have their broadband package. It's now £19.99 plus £15 activation fee then £23.99/month thereafter. I must admit this seems a lot for their reduced premier league fixtures (compared to Sky) and the Champions league fixtures.

Correction  I've just been checking and don't have channel 417 anymore - I seem to remember opting out as Barney said and from 1 August they are charging a fiver - I only have BT Sport Lite channel 413 now which is still free to broadband customers but cost £13.50 otherwise

BT Sport Pack gives you all of BT Sport's great content across all four of our channels, including BT Sport Europe, with additional content available on BT Sport Extra. You'll also get access to AMC from BT.

Your discounted BT Sport Pack ( ME )

£5 per month for as long as you're within the minimum term of your BT Broadband contract (12 month minimum broadband term required) If you choose not to renew your BT Broadband contract at the end of its minimum term, you'll start paying an additional £6.75 per month for the BT Sport Pack when your contract term expires.
