Still working well for me and that vaccing the dust out of the fan seems to have improved my laptop as well, fan running quieter and less of a slow down during the day than before. But I guess that would have improved Win 7 operation as well.

I'll give it a look Alan.
I've checked compatibility with Windows 10 for future reference and it should be ok.

Tried it Alan. It's the US version and won't import my UK files.

Re Internet Explorer 11. I tried to download it on to my Windows 10 Pavillion Lap Top and got the message that IE11 will not run on Windows 10. So I down loaded Google Chrome, but after searching all through the W10 menus I could find, I could not find it anywhere. Still keep getting Bing. I am still very frustrated by the way W8.1 and W10 display available programmes, with stupid window panes with only geeky hieroglyphics to indicate what they are.

I have to keep going back to my old desk top tower PC with Windows Vista, to get any sense out of the internet, which defeats the objective of buying the new lap top.

Frank, I think you are supposed to use the new Edge browser with Win 10 if you buy a new pc with only Win 10. However if you upgrade your old pc it will still have the old IE browser loaded, as well as any others you had.
I tried Edge but did not think it had any benefit over Firefox, so stayed with that. By the way cleaning the fan on my laptop seems to have made a significant improvement to its performance, so thanks for the tip.

Stephen, that version of Money will import a Quicken file, so see if what you're currently running will export to a QIF.

Downloaded Windows 10

I really think at the moment Widows 7 is much more user friendly

Spent most of today changing settings but still find 10 a tad "glitzy" for my needs

Sleep on it, probably revert back to 7 tomorrow

I agree Graham

Do you know how to revert back Graham? If no, let me know and I'll show you. It's easy.

Thanks Alan. But as I'm now back using Windows 7 for the time being and MS 2004 I'm not going to faff about anymore. I have downloaded MS2005 though purely as a bit of an upgrade.

It's no good, I'm just too scared to go for Windows 10. It sounds like there are so many problems to sort out - and I just know I'd never find all the things I'm so comfy with using now. I've heard of several instances where it's made computers run really slowly.

I've got the icon telling me ready to import but I'm just going to ignore it.

Glad it seems to have worked Towny, it made a big difference to Sue's Lap Top after I opened it up and cleaned it out. The fan was thick with dust....she is a mucky little pup  I am thinking of trying to get Windows 7 for the HP Pav, especially having read on line that Microsoft are regarding W10 as a service and add ons will be charged. The Edge Browser is not in the same league as Explorer or Chrome for user friendliness as far as I can see.

At present I am distracted by noise of drilling on our drive, because the tarmac was terrible and I'm spending my daughter's inheritance on a posh new one. Just wait...knowing my luck they will drill through the telephone cable.

I know I have reverted back to Windows 7 from 10, but I was able to use Google as my browser in 10 after a bit of messing about in settings.

If you go to the edge browser and click on setting in the top right corner you can set up your required browser in the drop down lists. I believe from memory I had to go into 'advanced' settings as well.

I thought Microsoft had been ordered a couple of years back to give users the choice of which browser to default to when installing versions of Windows.... This faffing around shouldn't be necessary then.

I agree Alan. And it did take a bit of faffing about to get Google to work. I hated that edge concoction.

There was very little faffing to switch back to Firefox as my default browser, Win 10 preserved both Firefox and Chrome on my taskbar, so I just used that icon to start up Firefox, and I think it then asked me if I wanted set Firefox as my default browser; but I could still use Edge or Chrome to browse if needed. I also have Word and Excel pinned to the taskbar as well as any games I want, so far only spider solitaire, and any other regular used functions; so with e-mail on-line via Sky/Yahoo I have very little use for items on the Windows menu, so for me Win 10 is operating nearly identically to Win 7 but much faster. However whether this is due to Win 10, or vaccing the dust out of the fan I will never know, the only issue so far is that File explorer seems a bit slower to fully load than Docs did on Win 7, but the format is very similar and is quite easy to operate.
So I think I will be staying with Win 10, that's assuming all updates remain free as before.

I to upgraded to windows 10 last week and it certainly seemed to run faster but I could not get any sound to work have tried altering settings for the last four days and running trouble shooters with no positive effects so this afternoon I changed back to windows 7 and the sound is working fine if anyone has any ideas why this should be I would be very interested.

yes first thing I checked I did try looking on the internet and it said most likely cause was that some dll files had not downloaded at that point it seemed easier to swap back to windows 7

Did you try updating you sound card drivers.

If you Google 'no sound since upgrading to windows 10', there is plenty of info on there about this.

Thought I ought to check whether I had sound so just played a you tube music video, not only do I have sound but the quality is now way above what it was on Win 7, have to say I did not expect such an improvement but a further plus for Win 10.

I have imported my Google Chrome from 7, my preferred search engine

Mr Norton has kindly "fixed" my account for 10

Needed to download a fix for my Cannon printer

BTW my Money 95 is running OKA1, other than the dates are American style . . . 08/11/15

I hope that I can come to terms with the glitzy 10 OS
