Tianjin Explosion
Is this not the cruise port for Bejing ?, a ship carrying explosives has exploded killing at least 7 and injuring hundreds it would not be nice to be moored up here at the time.
Has anyone been on a cruise that has docked in Tianjin ?.

Re: Tianjin Explosion
I assume, since the Chinese have the worlds largest armaments industry, that this ship was exporting explosives. I wonder which terrorist state or organisation it was destined for?

Re: Tianjin Explosion
I have been on the Marine Traffic website and Bohai Bay seems pretty congested with ships and many are showing the destination as being Tianjin and only a couple of ships showing as being in port so I would assume that incoming ships have been told to hold off and any undamaged ships have been evacuated to the Bay. There were no passenger carrying ships showing so I suppose that is a blessing but there would have been hundreds if not thousands of ships crew and port staff around at the time of the explosion.
The latest news report confirms that the explosion was in a warehouse and not on a ship, but the death toll has risen to 17 plus two firefighters missing.

I was reading that one chap survived the explosion even though he was but 50 metres from the epicentre of the blast.

We stopped at Xingang for Beijing in 2013, I think this is the same port as Tianjin. What a terrible tragedy.
