Photocopier - prolonged use
Does anyone know whether there are any guidelines regarding the use of commercial photocopiers? I have one sited behind me (approx. 4ft from the back of my chair) which is regularly used for longs runs (up to 60 copies of 100+ page documents). I have tried to ask that times of use are cut down or at least limited to a maximum length of time before having a decent break, but the selfish people doing the copying don't take any notice, as "I'm alright jack, doesn't affect me".
If anyone could help, I would be VERY grateful!!

I would say that it is almost certainly a health hazard and you should raise the issue now with your immediate management. Regardless of whether there are any evident symptoms at present it is obviously a matter of concern to you and should be dealt with sympathetically.

Thanks folks. I will trot along, armed with these articles to my line manager and have a whinge.
Seriously though, I'm not a whinger, but this issue really is p!ssing me off. The best thing is - there's an exact same copier in another part of the building in a room on it's own, not bothering anyone. Try getting people to walk up the stairs to use that one!

I reckon if you raise it as a health and safety issue with a written complaint it will get sorted.

Meanwhile ... remove the paper then get a piece of white card, write ' Out of Order ' on it in large black capital letters using a Freezer Pen and then affix it to said photocopier.
Et voila ...

Hi Ginny....forgive me if l'm crossing the line saying this but your manager must be some sort of muppet if he/she has allowed this to go on so long that it is now causing you distress....l obviously don't know what working relationship you have with your manager but when you do approach your manager be sure to document everything said between you including dates and times of when it was said....situations such as this have the potential to turn nasty should he/she/others take umbridge to your request.
