New UK Passport

Unread post by Ranchi »

According to a article in one of today's papers, The UK has one of the best passports in the world ( although not the cheapest). The title of coolest passport goes to Finland. It's passport uses the spare pages to make a flick book of a walking elk. What do you think would make the most appropriate ( or inappropriate) flick book theme for a future UK passport?

Hopefully the above link will show the walking elk on Finlands passport.

No gimmicks just a reminder that they have the new chipped passport and instructions on how to use the self scan booths, its amazing how many passengers just stand at the booths waiting for someone to show them how to use them.

I can see a point where everyone will have the chipped passports and the technology will not be up to the job and where will the human element be?, on the dole probably.

We came into LHR T3 recently, and thought we would go through the automatic system. Fine - we both have chipped passports, and my was brand new. I went first, DH stood behind me in the queue. I went into the booth - and whilst it let me through, the whole thing (several gates/booths) ceased functioning at precisely the time that I was allowed to proceed through. So, I'm on one side, safely through, DH is the other side, and we can't even chat to each other to pass the time. DH (and everyone else) had to go through the old fashioined system! Joy!

Good Morning

I cannot remember ever "moaning" whilst on holiday

Had a few minor problems of course, but always had a polite word in the appropriate ear

These booths are slow and not intuitive. Whoever designed them should be made to go through them repeatedly for the rest of their natural lives, which wouldn't be very long if they did.
